POSITION SUMMARY

Full engagement in demonstrating leadership through tele?medicine technology in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of critical care patients in the eICU according to the standards of the AACN Tele?ICU Nursing Practice Guidelines. Tele?ICU nursing care is provided to the individual patient through remote monitoring with a goal of early detection of warning signs of clinical deterioration, proactive collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes, and assist with Health First based upon physiological, cultural, spiritual and age specific needs. The tele?ICU eRN is a member of a collaborative care team who is responsible for providing tele?nursing care to a diverse population of critically ill adults across multiple ICUs at various hospitals. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Associate supports engagement through adherence to the I?CARE commitments and places the customer foremost in all initiatives.

2. Exhibits and promotes behaviors consistent with a highly engaged associate.

3. Establishes and sustains an environment that promotes effective communication, collaboration, and collegiality to ensure optimal quality and clinical outcomes.

4. Uses critical thinking skills in diagnosing clinical problems and in defining intervention to coordinate an interdisciplinary plan of care based on current evidence?based practice, prioritizing clinical problems accurately and in a timely manner after re?evaluation of prior diagnoses and care plans at appropriate intervals in accordance to expected individual patient outcomes.

5. Uses Philips clinical decision support tools and/or ePhysician in determining evidence?based practices for clinical problems and documents nursing care, change in condition, response to therapy, treatments, and procedures and referrals in eCareManager (eCM).

6. Formulates and articulates succinct and comprehensive assessments of real or potential patient problems to the ePhysician and utilizing eICU Prioritized Task list in the process.

7. Prevents clinical problems from occurring by: Direct observation via teleconferencing ?Proactive surveillance of adverse physiological trends ?Assurance of appropriate ordered prophylactic strategies ?Medical chart review ?Appropriate reaction to alarm

8. Responds to routine, urgent, and emergent patient problems appropriately by demonstrating effective decision?making. Provides follow?up to ensure problem resolution.

9. Enhances communication outside of the eICU while in the remote care setting and via eICU Liaison relationship with bedside teams.

10. Assists with, adheres to, and promotes Health First and department?specific goal(s) of financial stewardship while embracing and facilitating a culture of lean?thinking to assist with length of stay initiatives.

11. Exhibits behaviors of financial prudency inclusive, but not limited to, prompt arrival and departure from work site, adherence to Health First break and meal?time policies, dependability, reliability, and flexibility in relation to work schedule to ensure safe, adequate staffing coverage, and proper use and care of necessary job?related supplies and equipment.

12. Embraces and supports all current and newly designated future initiatives inclusive, but not limited to eSNF Consult, eSepsis, PCU/ICU Downgrades, eICU Liaison Partnership and related travel, etc.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an approved school of nursing.

Work Experience: Five years of recent experience as a staff nurse in the specialty field of adult critical care

Licensure: Current Florida RN licensure.

Certification: Must hold current AHA BLS & ACLS Healthcare Provider Completion Cards

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Completes competency?based orientation skills checklist within 3 months of employment. Experience in a role which required effectively communicating and collaborating with health care professionals, performance improvement participation, evidence of ability to be a team player and evidence of ability to cope well with change. Ability to multi?task and monitor large populations of patients while providing real?time clinical support to collaborate with bedside staff

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (ADA, Travel, Environment, Noise)

  • Must have visual acuity and hand?eye coordination to perform clinical tasks with corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stoop up to 90% of assigned shift
  • Ability to work in a potentially stressful environment and concentrate on multiple priorities
  • Ability to respond appropriately to life?threatening situations and triage multiple fluctuations in ICU patient physiology
  • Ability to provide continuous concentration to monitoring computer systems/screens with meal and break times per hospital policy
