POSITION SUMMARY
Demonstrate leadership through the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care according to the standards of professional nursing practice. Acting as a resource to the Assistant Nurse Manager and Nurse Manager as appropriate for precepting, scheduling, team meetings, and clinical implementations as directed.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Demonstrates appropriate delegation and supervision of patient care activities within the healthcare setting.
- Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the healthcare team and promotes effective team functioning.
- Helps to monitor the effectiveness of existing processes and policies towards improving quality outcomes; actively participates on quality projects.
- Recognizes and resolves safety issues and potential unsafe situations within approved policies, procedures and protocol.
- Actively participates in the development and attainment of department team goals.
- Demonstrates effective critical thinking, prudent judgment and direction to staff in nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, interventions and evaluation of outcomes, and adjusts plan of care as needed.
- Facilitates and leads effective interdisciplinary care team meetings; serves in a coaching, mentor or instructive role to nurse interns, students and peers, etc.
- Effectively leads shift and post–event huddles when appropriate.
- Participates and provides feedback to manager for associate interviews, check–ins and performance management.
- Demonstrates effective conflict resolution skills, demonstrates dependability, reliability and flexibility.
- Adds positively to creating and sustaining a healthy work environment and staff retention, oversees orientation of new clinical staff.
- Serves as a resource to address points of escalation with patients, families and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: BSN Preferred.
- Experience: At least two (2) years of acute care, medical–surgical or home health clinical experience preferred.
- Licensure:
- Current State of Florida RN licensure or endorsement.
- Must have and maintain current driver?s license with proof of current auto insurance coverage.
- Certification: Must hold current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must have reliable transportation to care for clients in their home–setting.
- Must successfully complete eligible Level II background screening.
- Must be able to speak / understand written and verbal instructions in the English language.
- Must be able to participate in on AOC rotation, on call rotation; weekend/evening rotation.
- Strong critical thinking and decision–making skills.
- Proficient computing skills including use of MS Office Suite and other software applications and online resources.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – Moderate
- Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently.
- Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.
- May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head.
- May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
- May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise.
- May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand–eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remote.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
