Description

The primary function of this position is directing and overseeing production employees across the weld department in a manufacturing environment.  This position assigns work recommends improvements in production methods and operating procedures.  Ensures quality and safety practices are met.

Essential Duties:

  • Assists supervisor in the planning, scheduling and completion of all tasks related to his/her department
  • Enforces safety rules and conducts safety inspections of area of responsibility.
  • Knowing proper procedures for workers to follow and ensuring they comply
  • Coordinates with production planners and supervision to insure timely completion of production orders
  • Responsible for pulling data from SAP and reporting production metrics
  • Reports out on status of department each morning during the Gemba walk
  • Assists Supervisor with timekeeping by verifying accuracy of clock punches and reconciling time-clock exceptions; recommends improvements to production methods, equipment layout, and product flow.
  • Monitors productivity and measures against standards; Takes action as needed to resolve issues so that production goals are met
  • Communicates production challenges to appropriate leader.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials needed in the department; responsible for 5S
  • Provides feedback to supervision in relation to employees' safety habits, productivity, & adherence to shop rules
  • Accurately reports shop floor production data via computer terminal and/or written reporting
  • Follows visual and written work instructions to complete assigned tasks within set time allotted
  • Performs cycle counting of parts and material handling duties as prescribed by Supervisor
  • Able to check parts to engineering drawings using precision measuring equipment
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces, and defends the mission, values, and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Other Skills & Abilities:

  • High School diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor's degree in business or related field a plus
  • Minimum of five years of weld experience in a manufacturing facility; Demonstrated leadership & coaching/mentoring ability
  • Ability to work from verbal and written instructions
  • Advanced knowledge of technical or complex production processes and equipment within assigned area
  • Operation of small power tools, other hand tools, computerized and high-pressure equipment
  • Goal oriented and team focused to ensure completion of projects in a timely manner
  • Track record of positive attendance; must have excellent organizational skills
  • Must be highly self-motivated, customer centric with proven leadership ability
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload
  • Possesses computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages
