Description
The Sr. IT Business Analyst is responsible for business and systems analysis functions supporting systems software and technologies within the scope of the Supply Chain team. This position will apply proven analytical, communication and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT investments and turn functional business requirements into effective design solutions. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed and approved projects, and supporting the resolution of production issues stemming from DC operations or project work.
Senior-level Analysts role are system and process subject matter experts who demonstrate the ability to deliver operational solutions independently where needed and can handle multiple projects and production support initiatives simultaneously. This role requires 25 – 60% travel to Harbor Freight distribution centers where timing and duration of travel correlates to the specific project or need.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate in the planning, design, development/configuration, testing and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications
- Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including system, integration, and customer acceptance, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support
- Provide production support for distribution center applications issues, including night and weekend support when needed
- Scheduling projects and initiatives to accommodate the DC operating calendar, which includes evenings, weekends, and holidays observed by HFT corporate
- Analyze and determine root-cause for reported system issues
- Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential problem areas in IT systems across the organization
- Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business requirements, and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues
- Collaborate with project managers, solutions architects and project sponsors to determine project scope and how to execute multiple projects
- Document functional business requirement and interpret into system designs
- Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary
- Conduct research into on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems

Requirements
Job Qualifications – Education and Experience
Required
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, supply chain, finance or business related filed or an equivalent of 5+ years' experience in supply chain systems implementations including warehouse management systems (WMS), warehouse control systems (WCS), yard management systems (YMS), coupled with material handling equipment ( MHE)
- Experience directly and indirectly managing project resources and direct reporting relationships
- Ideal background includes experience in national, multi-unit retailers with multiple warehouse operations, such as department stores, mass merchants, or other general merchandise retailers
- Hard line experience is preferred

- Proficient in MS office suites, MS Project and Visio
- Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle methodologies as adopted by the organization

- Knowledge of Manhattan WMOS suite a plus
- Experience with SharePoint and JIRA
General office environment requiring ability to:
- stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time about regular office setting
- Ability to walk distances between offices and processing areas in Distribution Center environment
- speak and listen to others in person and over the phone
- use keyboard and read from computer screen and reports
- Able to lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers, peripherals or Harbor Freight product cartons to support testing/troubleshooting
