Responsible for the day to day operations of the classroom and includes providing instruction to students. Must provide a wide variety of tasks relating to the teaching-learning process for students in addition to providing nurturing care and attending to student's physical needs. Carry out duties in accordance to specific program policies, guidelines, and curriculum standards. Solve problems through expertise judgment aligned with early childhood best practices and licensing regulations. Work is performed under limited supervision of a teacher, assistant director and/or director/principal. Must be able to lift 40 - 50 pounds. Excellent communication skills.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Child Development Associate (CDA) certification, CDA equivalent or higher required [CDA equivalent = 12 college credits in early childhood education (ECE), child development (CD), elementary education (El Ed) or early childhood special education (EC Spec Ed)]. Must have and maintain Pediatric First Aid/CPR AED certifications and active PINJ registry within 30 days of hire (PINJ = The New Jersey Registry for early childhood professionals serving children birth through age thirteen).

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. Minimum of 2 years experience in an approved child care center.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. Child Development Associate.
2. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
3. NJ Workforce Registry.
