In this role, you will be supporting the overall mission of the US Attorney's Office (USAO). If you are looking for a meaningful, mission driven career, Join FSA!   A Records Examiner/Analyst will provide Data Analyst tasks and performs, but is not limited to the following duties:  

  • Maintains and extracts data from automated docketing databases and systems.
    • Inputs information into databases and systems and updates records.
    • Develops and maintains automated records from initial referral to final disposition and case file closure.
    • Extracts requested program and/or statistical data when requested.
    • Receives and reviews incoming case files and documents.
    • Performs initial analysis of content to determine the nature of the USAOs interest and cause of action.
    • Updates databases and systems to record status changes in all items docketed.
    • Reviews reports to identify errors.
  • Provides routine docketing support services.
    • Accepts service of legal documents from opposing counsel or representatives.
    • Enters pertinent information into docketing system and routes to appropriate USAO employee.
    • Works with AUSA and legal support staff to verify case information.
    • Performs routine factual research to correct and update case records.
    • Reviews recurring reports (e.g., weekly reports of new claims, matter and cases) to respond to inquiries.
    • When the closing form is received, closes cases out of the system.
    • Receives inquiries on case status.
    • Retrieves information using routine queries or from hard copy reports.
    • Exercises confidentiality, tact, discretion, and judgment in determining what information may be properly released.
  • Produces routine and recurring written documents and materials utilizing a variety of office automation applications.
    • Integrates output from different software types (e.g., tables produced by database applications and charts and graphs produced by electronic spreadsheet applications) into word processing or desktop publishing text.
    • Produces complicated tables, graphs and charts which may be incorporated into legal documents or courtroom presentations.
    • Ensures proper format, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar.


Requirements

A Records Examiner/Analyst must meet the following qualifications:
  • A four-year undergraduate degree or HS Diploma/GED and additional 2 years' experience
  • Computer Skills: Applicant shall have the ability to use MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access, and other databases as well as Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Experience with a docketing software is a plus
  • Communication skills are extremely Applicant shall work and interact professionally and effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines and work as a team player in a professional
  • Skill in meeting and dealing with people in a courteous and tactful
  • Ability to review a wide variety of documents, both legal and non-legal, including Motions and Briefs
  • Must have one year's experience in a field related
  • Attention to detail and the ability to read and follow directions
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Must possess a demonstrated ability to analyze documents to extract information
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
