Responsibilities

  • Provides pre-seizure investigative assistance to Special Agents in support of on-going major criminal investigations.
  • Performs complex case-related research by reviewing and analyzing questions at issue and reviewing the facts of the case; prepares summaries and digests of pertinent data, compiles indexes, prepares trial material, and summarizes depositions or other transcripts.
  • Conducts liaison functions between the investigation and the attorney designated to prosecute the case.
  • Reviews the status of cases to determine whether current or proposed actions are sound.
  • May take the lead to achieve the goal of the investigation, assuring the work meets contract and Government requirements and is delivered on time.
  • Creates administrative and technical procedures to accomplish the assigned tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.





Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree; or Paralegal Certificate; or High School Diploma/GED and eight-years' paralegal or other law enforcement experience; Criminal Justice degree a plus
  • Supervisory or project management experience preferred
  • Experience in conducting research using a variety of automated tools and software
  • Excellent communication skills; oral and written
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and other common software applications and databases, advance skills preferred
  • Proven commitment and expertise to provide excellent customer service; positive and flexible; ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a team environment, deliver the highest quality of work, and maintain a professional disposition under extreme pressure

Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are familiar with the specific policies, processes, procedures, and practices of this customer office, and who are cleared to commence work immediately.

 

This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation.

The USPIS makes seizures under their authority to discourage profit-motivated crimes such as mail fraud, money laundering and drug trafficking using the mail.

Target salary range: $68,840 - $77,440. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
