Job SummaryWhat a typical day looks like:
- Define mechanical product architecture, system, subsystem and part design(s) with the target to meet the relevant requirements;
- Simulate, analyses and/or calculate design solution performance and verify this by feasibility, characterization and/or verification testing;
- Support the creation of (a) product, system and/or mechanical design requirement document(s);
- Lead and/or execute the mechanical system, subsystem and part design of products starting from requirement specification up to transfer into manufacturing including fabrication, testing, verification and validation of engineering prototypes;
- Work in or lead a team of mechanical engineers, that is part of a project team, in design and development of more and more miniaturized systems that often will contain electro-mechanical and/or electronics components;
- Work within project teams including NPI, tool engineering and advanced sourcing that provides product development services to Flex Customers adopting time and cost-effective solutions;
- Investigate new technologies and trends, assisting in generating production and technology roadmaps that support customer expectations in close relationship with vendors;
- Implement design solutions and improvements that optimize manufacturability and assembly in production using DfX, TSA and design review processes while minimizing cost of goods sold;
- Deliver high quality technical reports and design output supported by simulations analysis and/or lab tests when applicable.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably mechanical
- At least 4~7 years hands on experience in manufacturing or operation environment
- Design capture using a 3D MCAD tool like PTC Creo and/or SolidWorks, GD&T and TA (RSS/worst case); Familiar with Mechanics and Kinematics principles; Understanding of plastic & sheet-metal part manufacturing processes and associated tolerances; Material knowledge; Regulatory Standards knowledge appropriate to the specific product being designed; Assembly and measuring tools. Proficient in MS Office.
- Experienced in product risk analysis and FMEA.
- Proficient in engineering analysis and tools: FEA, Worst Case analysis, Monte Carlo simulation.
- Demonstrates creative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Requires troubleshooting, RC analysis and diagnostics skills;
- Proven verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in English.
- Proven ability to work well in a team, in particular when under pressure and working with tight deadlines.
- Demonstrates advanced functional and technical skills and basic process skills.
