In charge of providing immediate supervision to a group of employees for the implementation of complex activities related to the efficient management of Environmental Health & Safety programs in offices and manufacturing sites to ensure that the required company and government standards and regulations are met.
What a typical day looks like:
- Manage, through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs in offices, manufacturing sites, and plants with control results in terms of costs, methods, and employees.
- Develop and administer budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.
- Conduct meetings involving environmental safety, training, and awareness programs.
- Oversee proper maintenance of buildings, furniture and fixtures in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
- Provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance and act as advisor to unit, or sub-units and get involved as required to meet schedules or resolve problems.
- Establish and recommend changes to policies which affect subordinate organization(s).
- Interact frequently with subordinate supervisors, customers and/or functional peer group managers.
- Conduct presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.
- Manage budget and schedule for moderately complex EH&S activities, including costs of contract labor, equipment, and materials.
- Train staff on any changes to policy and procedures.
- Implement appropriate HR Strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Experience in EH&S or related position.
- Intermediate English able to establish communication at different levels.
- Experience in Sustainability, EH&S and knowledge of related regulations, codes, and guidelines.
- Previous experience in EH&S, renewable energy, water conservation and sustainability activities within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret safety guidelines, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
