GVC II is a leading Para transit (Access-A-Ride) company based in the Bronx, NY, dedicated to providing reliable and efficient transportation services. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Scheduler to join our team and play a crucial role in optimizing our operational schedules. Scheduling staff members refers to the process of assigning work shifts or schedules to employees in an organization. This can help to ensure that work is evenly distributed among team members and that adequate staffing is available during busy periods. Some scheduling systems may prioritize certain staff members based on their seniority ,or availability. Other factors that may be considered when scheduling staff members include the day of the week or specific dates, holidays, employee preferences, and labor laws. Proper scheduling can improve productivity, team morale, and customer satisfaction. 

Hourly Wage of $24.00/hr

Responsibilities 

1. Scheduling and Resource Management

   - Develop and maintain efficient vehicle operator schedules based on seniority, demand, availability, and driver restrictions. 

   - Allocate resources effectively to meet operational demands while ensuring compliance with GVC II and D.O.T regulations. 

2. Regulatory Compliance

   - Stay abreast of all rules and regulations set by the Department of Transportation (D.O.T) and other relevant authorities. 

   - Ensure that all scheduling activities adhere to legal requirements and industry standards.

  •  Responds to customer/driver inquiries and problems by providing timely and accurate information or directing inquiries to supervisor.
    •  Follows and explains policy and procedure as outlined in operations and procedures manuals.

3. Attendance Monitoring and Overtime Reduction: 

   - Implement and maintain systems to monitor driver attendance. 

   - Identify patterns and address driver attendance issues proactively. 

   - Work towards reducing driver overtime by addressing attendance issues through effective scheduling and communication. 

4. Performance Optimization

   - Analyze company performance metrics, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and adjust schedules to enhance operational efficiency. 

   - Implement strategies to reduce overtime while maintaining high-quality service. 

  •  Meets or exceeds established performance requirements.

5. Communication and Problem-Solving

   - Respond promptly and professionally to staff feedback or complaints related to scheduling and attendance. 

   - Proactively address scheduling concerns, providing effective and efficient solutions. 

  •  Maintains professional attitude and performance in all interactions with clients and staff

6. Organizational Skills

   - Demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills to create, publish, and communicate schedules well in advance. 

   - Anticipate demand fluctuations and adjust schedules accordingly. 

7. Financial Acumen

   - Understand the company's financials and make informed scheduling decisions to optimize resources and control costs. 

  •  Remains knowledgeable of all policies and procedure changes.

8. Driver Restrictions: 

   - Consider and manage driver restrictions effectively when creating schedules. 

9. Proactive Approach

   - Take a proactive stance in identifying potential scheduling issues and implementing preventive measures. 

10. Regular Check-Ins

    - Conduct regular check-ins with the team to discuss scheduling concerns or changes, ensuring everyone is on the same page and preventing misunderstandings. 

  •  Adheres to the work schedule in order to handle the call volume and contractual requirements, unless request made by supervisor.
  • Adheres to Company Confidentiality standards.

Qualifications: 

- Proven experience as a scheduler in the transportation or logistics industry. 

- In-depth knowledge of D.O.T regulations and compliance requirements. 

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

- Proficient in scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite. 

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure with composure. 

- Proactive with the ability to anticipate operational needs. 

- Excellent attention to detail and reliability. 

- Excellent organizational and time management skills. 

-  Communicate clearly in English

- Able to operate standard telephone system

- Exercise business telephone etiquette

  •  Must be fast paced, must be organized, friendly

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Able to sit for prolonged hours, office type call center environment.
