A Financial Solutions Learning & Development (L & D) Specialist I at First Commonwealth Bank is responsible for preparing new and existing financial solutions team members to be successful in their roles.   You facilitate classes using adult learning principles, including a variety of learning methods and activities, to clearly convey information and concepts to individuals or groups, while using an engaging style of teaching that fosters understanding and retention.  The Financial Solutions L & D Specialist I provides appropriate practice that allows for application of knowledge and development of skills to the job as well as balanced feedback, allowing learners to self-assess first.  You complete evaluations of learners and communicate them to management.  You also create and use tools to help managers support their employee's ability to apply new skills to the job.    In addition, the Financial Solutions Learning & Development Specialist I provides additional coaching and on-the-job training, when needed, to turn the skills taught in the training session into permanent behaviors in the field.  You assess the effectiveness of the programs you facilitate and collaborate with senior team members to make improvements.  You will utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to enroll participants, manage classes and run reports.  You will reproduce training materials and obtain supplies, as needed.  You may perform ad hoc training sessions as determined by management.  

In order to keep skills current and to maintain an awareness of current branch operations a Financial Solutions L &D Specialist I periodically functions as a senior Financial Solutions Center employee.  In addition to performing the role of a Financial Solutions Specialist III during branch assignments, you will work to ensure the branch is in compliance with current risk standards and meets operational performance standards.  You may be called upon to provide temporary guidance and direction to FSSs, manage daily workflow and scheduling, coordinate training, and coach to successful performance in the role during branch assignments.

Essential Job Responsibilities

1. Prepares new and existing financial solutions team members to be successful in their roles:

a. Facilitates classes using adult learning principles.

b. Support new hires' development for first 90-120 days

c. Clearly conveys information and concepts to individuals or groups, using an engaging style of teaching.  

d. Provides appropriate and ample opportunity for skill practice.

e. Provides balanced feedback, allowing learners to self-assess first.

f. Completes evaluations of learners and communicates them to management.

g. Creates and utilizes tools to help managers support their employee's ability to apply new skills to the job.

h. Provides additional coaching and on-the-job training, when needed, to turn the skills taught in the training session into permanent behaviors in the field.

i. Assesses the effectiveness of the programs they facilitate, collaborate with senior team members to make improvements; tests innovations.

j. Utilizes the LMS to enroll participants, manage classes and run reports.

2. Functions as a senior Financial Solutions Center employee periodically:

a. Maintains necessary skills and abilities to successfully perform the Financial Solutions Specialist functions within the branch, as needed.

b. Accurately and effectively serves the retail banking needs of our customers, conducting all business in a courteous and professional manner, making customers feel welcome to do business with First Commonwealth Bank. 

c. Initiates and actively participates in customer conversations, both consumer and business, in order to identify service and product needs and deepen new and existing relationships. 

d. Processes a variety of routine banking transactions, opens and services deposit accounts, and completes all aspects of consumer lending from application through closing. 

e. Maintains current and thorough knowledge of all bank products and services, as well as working knowledge of non-bank services, such as brokerage, insurance and mortgage, in order to promote and refer these products. 

f. Conduct all business in accordance with established policies and procedures. 

g. During branch assignments, works to ensure the branch is in compliance with current risk standards and meets operational performance standards. 

h. May be called upon to provide temporary guidance and direction to Financial Solutions Specialists, manage daily workflow and scheduling, coordinate training, and coach to successful performance in the role during branch assignments.

Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications

1. An associate's degree or equivalent is required.   A bachelor's degree in education is preferred.  

2. A minimum of two (2) years branch sales and operations related experience is required.   

3. Must register and maintain current registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS). The NMLS website (mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org) provides the MU4R questions and registration required for employment in this position.

4. Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills, and a professional manner; excellent organization and time management skills.  

5. Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new software systems.

6. Travel is required, including periodic overnight travel; must have a valid driver's license.

7. May be eligible for Telecommuting.
