**Overview**
Are you interested in becoming an Operating Room Nurse?
The **Fairview Perioperative 101 Nurse Education** program is learner centered and structured to provide specialized skills (circulate and scrub in cases) and knowledge in Perioperative nursing for a licensed RN. We use curriculum created by AORN and learning modules presented through lectures, demonstrations and videos. Learning is reinforced in the lab and clinical setting. The classroom didactic, hands-on lab experiences and clinical practicum take place at a Fairview location. The method of evaluation will include chapter post-tests, final examination, skill demonstrations and preceptor observation in the clinical setting. Provides continuing education contact hours after successful completion.
We are hiring for a Perioperative 101 RN, who after training/education is complete will work at the University of Minnesota Medical Center on the **West Bank campus in Minneapolis** .
**Date:** Program begins on December 16th, 2024 and will continue for approximately four (4) months. You will then move into orientation last 3 - 6 months, once complete you will work full time as a Circulating RN
**Days/Hours:** Training and Orientation will take place Monday through Friday, hours will vary (primarily days). This training program is full-time (80 hours per two-week pay period) for the duration of the program. Once you complete orientation, you will rotate D/E and weekend hours

+ The West Bank has 15 operating rooms serving an average of 36 cases per day.

+ The specialty services we provide here are Ortho/Spine/Oral (mainly adults), Peds CV-Hearts/Cardio Thoracic, Peds Neuro/Generals/Urology/Bariatrics, Peds Transplant, Adult Urology, GYN, Robotics, ENT/Eye/Plastics and Peds Dental.

**Responsibilities Job Description**
The operating rooms consist of a total of 18 rooms, with an average of 36 cases per day. We provide state of the art surgical suites for patients needing surgical intervention. The surgical services provided to patients are in the following clinical specialties: general, dental, eye, ear, nose and throat, endoscopy, orthopedics/spine, Cardiovascular (peds), neurology (peds), bariatrics (peds), transplant (peds), robotic, gynecological, urology and plastics.
+ Service to the adult and pediatric surgical population 24/7, 365
+ RN's are unionized with MNA.
+ For RN's, scrubbing for your team is not required but is optional after orientation is complete
+ 4 Teams:
+ Ortho/Spine/Oral
+ Peds Team: CV/Neuro/General/Urology
+ ENT/Eye/Plastics
+ Peds Transplant/Adult Urology/ Benign GYN/Dental
The Operating Room RN provides services as a circulating nurse and is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for the patient undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room. The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, and professional practice guidelines. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
**Qualifications**
+ A current Minnesota RN license by start date.
+ Current BLS certification with American Heart Association or American Red Cross as a Health Care Provider required
+ Strong desire/career goal to work as a RN in the Operating Room environment.
+ Current Fairview employees who have been in their current position for a minimum for 6 months and performance in previous/current Fairview jobs will be considered.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ BSN, BAN, Master's degree in nursing or higher
+ Previous experience in acute care nursing RN, surgical tech/technologist or as an anesthesia aide.
+ Completion of a perioperative nursing course at a community or technical college.
+ One year of nursing experience
