Hourly Rate: $24.00-$25.40

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Workforce Development Counselor provides assessment, planning, counseling, and referral services to TANF and WIOA customers to support their workforce development activities and achievement of their employment goals.
  • Meet with individual customers referred by Workforce Advisors and other TANF and WIOA staff and provide assessment, counseling, and referral services as needed.
  • Use a strength-based, trauma informed approach to develop individualized plans to assist customers to address personal, family, and mental health focused issues that affect their employability.
  •  Ongoing evaluation of customer progress in achieving goals in plan and preparing for employment.
  •  Enter case notes as appropriate in identified systems to document interactions with customers.
  •  Facilitate group meetings of customers experiencing similar issues.
  •  Provide technical assistance to referring staff to assist in addressing customer issues. Assist in identifying areas of customer need for workshops.
  •  Facilitate workshops on life skills related activities for TANF and WIOA customers.
  •  Work with CareerLink Team Leads to identify training needs for staff. Schedule and facilitate training workshops for staff.
  •  Attend Impact and funder meetings as required.
  •  Other related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or associated degree required.
  • Past experience working with the targeted population.  Minimum of one year of experience providing social services.
  • Strong individual and group counseling skills.  Sound knowledge of Philadelphia area and community resources.   Ability to maintain a leadership role with the participants to motivate and influence positive behaviors.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.  Must meet state criminal background check requirements.
  • Some inner-city travel may be required. Must have appropriate and valid state driver's license and be able to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.

About Our Workforce Programs:

Eckerd Connects provides Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services through contracts with the U.S. Department of Labor and local workforce boards, partnerships, and strategies to provide and create a career pathway for youth, adults, and dislocated workers.  Training services include occupational skills training, customized training, on-the-job training, incumbent worker training, and transitional employment opportunities.  We provide youth with development, academic instruction, career & technical education, and access to the 14 WIOA Youth Elements. We establish and develop relationships and networks with large and small employers and their intermediaries as well as develop, convene, or implement industry or sector partnerships.
