Hourly Rate: $17.00-$17.50

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The success mentor will build a working relationship with not only the team, other staff and community partners they will also build a working relationship with participants and foster the development of positive life skills while providing an environment conducive to the learning experience and support for students participating in work preparation courses, secondary education opportunities such as GED and/or HiSET programs & courses motivating students to actively participate in all aspects of the change process and guiding them into today's workforce, post secondary education and/or military
  • The success mentor supervises participants and assesses participants' skill levels to help them reach their full potential and achieve educational goals by utilizing Eckerd methodologies.
  • Assist in administering orientation sessions and providing participants with the necessary program information.
  • Assist, advise and counsel a diverse student population with regard for program policies and standards while demonstrating sensitivity to student needs and circumstances monitoring progress and performing routine follow-up. 
  • Adhere to the prescribed, authorized Individual Employment Plan, training plans, individual service strategey or student success plan. Works in conjunction with the team to create effective training goals, lesson plans, and fidelity tools to ensure effective implementation of Eckerd curriculums
  • Success mentor will learn, conduct and document case management as well as review, analyze and report participant records including assessments, assignments, tests, reports, performing data entry and other program related information as required.
  • Work with staff to create a mentoring referral database for Eckerd participants and works with community partners to build a mentoring program and create linkages between participant need and mentor assigned/referred.
  • The success mentor will be working both outside in various weather conditions on a construction site, and in a classroom setting, with a group of young adults and/or on a one-to-one basis through the assigned project.  Must be comfortable working outdoors standing and monitoring client participation while adhering to all site safety standards. 
  • The position is supporting the construction supervisor by assisting with paperwork, case management, attendance, behavior and other educational needs on site reporting daily feedback to appropriate program staff.  

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 2+ years working as a teacher, mentor, or training in mentorship or experience working with the targeted population preferred. 
  • Must have an appropriate and valid state driver's license and be able to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes.

Eckerd Connects provides Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services through contracts with the U.S. Department of Labor and local workforce boards, partnerships, and strategies to provide and create a career pathway for youth, adults, and dislocated workers.  Training services include occupational skills training, customized training, on-the-job training, incumbent worker training, and transitional employment opportunities.  We provide youth with development, academic instruction, career & technical education, and access to the 14 WIOA Youth Elements. We establish and develop relationships and networks with large and small employers and their intermediaries as well as develop, convene, or implement industry or sector partnerships.
