The Operations Sr. Manager is responsible for managing four to five private fleet site leaders with accountability for fleet manager development, site development, key performance indicators, safety, utilization, driver and staff turnover, DOT/FMCSA compliance, and all third party relationships.
Operations SR. Manager is responsible for overall recruiting activities, recruiting systems, and working with our HR partners. The Operations SR. Manager will assist with new private fleet Budgets, new expansion startups, equipment procurement, and developing best practice documentation. This Position has accountability for assigned DG Fleet operations, processes, programs, day to day engagement, store delivery execution, and the overall safety of the operations.
Job Details:- Accountabilities include but are not limited to leading four to five sites. Responsible for meeting all safety KPIs to include accidents per million mile, injuries per million mile, meeting DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements, use Omnitracs tool to ensure driver safety compliance with DOT HOS regulations. Build a strong team with JJ Keller ensuring we meet all DOT and FMCSA driver file requirements and safety regulations.
- Build a strong recruiting partnership with our HR team. This program must ensure we have the required drivers to support outbound dedicated operations at all fleet locations. Accountable for overall driver hiring and training.
- Accountable for overall transportation system's integration. (Driver Dispatch Systems, Omnitracs (tractor on board computers), JDA connectivity, and FMCSA portal interface).
- Accountable for fleet manager development, site development, operational key performance indicators including utilization, driver and team turnover, on time service, work comp, driver leave management, and overall account P & L management.
- Proven leadership and knowledge of transportation industry, FMCSA, DOT regulations, and safety programs
- Exceptional attention to details and organization skills
- Must have extensive knowledge of transportation software, dispatch systems, and tractor on board computers. Must know MS Office software.
- College degree or at least eight years of experience managing dedicated on site operations
- Travel 50%
Bachelor's degree in business or logistics preferred or comparable work experience with eight to 10 years in
transportation operations for a retailer, manufacturing company, major carrier, or 3PL required. Safety and transportation management experience with multiple sites. Must understand driver dispatch management systems.
