Salary: $114,429 - $123,350 DOE
Required Qualifications:
Alaska Type B Administrative Certificate and an Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate
Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) years' administrative experience at a similar and comparable school is preferred. Knowledge and background in elementary and secondary school curriculum, student attendance, management, and discipline skills. Applicants should be able to oversee student activities and discipline.
MatSu Hybrid Learning Academy School Information:
MSHLA serves students in grades K-12, with a projected enrollment of approximately 175 students. This is a new alternative school within the Matanuska Susitna Borough School District.
In the fall of 2025, the Matsu Central School campus will be supporting a hybrid learning program. Students can dual-enroll or course share from any campus in the District to take courses at MSHLA.
Key points:
- Any student may register for one or more courses to be taken at MSHLA.
- Students work in a blended learning environment with about half their time in person and the second half at home.
- Focus on academic progress while offering courses that are difficult to achieve in traditional homeschool.
- A schedule of offerings similar to a community college, but for K-12.
- All Teachers of Record will be certified teachers in the State of Alaska.
- Coordination and collaboration with the Matsu Central School Administration for scheduling.
MatSu Hybrid Learning Academy is seeking:
An administrator who can demonstrate the highest level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and commitments in the following administrative standards:
- An administrator provides leadership and guides instruction to support an effective learning environment
- An administrator coordinates services which support growth and development
- An administrator promotes staff professional growth through facilitating cooperative lesson planning and reflection on common assessments
- An administrator displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, and school personnel
- An administrator uses assessment and evaluation information to make decisions and to implement curriculum
- An administrator effectively communicates with diverse groups and individuals
- An administrator acts in accordance with established laws, policies, procedures, and good business practices
- An administrator fosters positive community relations while facilitating parent involvement
- An administrator establishes and promotes high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior
- An administrator demonstrates an understanding of the use of data to inform instructional practices
