**Job Summary:**

JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Nurse Liaison is a lead staff nurse who also assumes responsibilities that include assisting in assuring a patient/family focused environment while maintaining quality patient care. This role will lead nursing staff in day-to-day management by collaborating with the management team and providers. Clinical Nurse Liaison will monitor, and report problem behaviors displayed by nursing staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Customer Service

- Uses current technology to pull patients expeditiously from waiting rooms to exam areas.

- Proactively communicates delays to patients.

- Demonstrates professional behavior in all settings visible and audible to patients and visitors.

- Proactively identifies patient/visitor needs and takes steps to assist.

- Patients and families are satisfied with the care this nurse has given.

- Applies age-specific/cultural considerations to the patients.

- Leadership Responsibilities

- Assists in selecting, orienting, and training nursing staff

- Assures nursing staff remain compliant with licensing requirements

- Support and provide continuing education opportunities on relevant nursing procedures and topics

- Serves as a liaison between nursing staff, patients, providers, and administration.

- Positively represents company and leads by example

- Services as the voice of nursing staff, respectfully presenting grievances and issues the nursing staff often face, so that action may be taken on those issues

- Creates well-functioning office workflows and engages in efficient and thoughtful communication to ensure that all nursing staff have all needed information

- Workflow and staffing time-management

- Assesses quality of patient care provided by staff nurses during operational hours.

- Assists with orientation and professional development of staff.

- Gathers screening and other data for the health care team.

- Demonstrates individual and team accountability by meeting basic patient/family needs:

- Accompanies patients/families to exam rooms

- Prepares patients for examination

- Performs diagnostic testing

- Works with MD/provider to maintain efficient, effective clinic flow; checks schedules and organizes patient flow.

- Assists MD/provider with routine office procedure and collects lab specimens

- Maintains patient's charts and other patient care documents within the electronic health record.

- Prepares diagnostic testing requisitions

- Communicates patients' needs to MD/provider through accurate use of electronic health record's task system.

- Ensures cleanliness of exam room equipment, instruments; and keeps exam rooms adequately alwa

- Patient/Family Education

- Distributes patient/family education material as directed by providers.

- Incorporates a variety of resources to teach & support patient and family learning.

- Asthma education, Asthma Control Test, administering breathing treatments and dispensing neb machines and/or areochambers

- Standards and Accountability

- Remains current in the knowledge of all policies.

- Empowers staff to take ownership of their job performance and impact of patient care.

- Participates in quality improvement initiatives

- Participates in staff meetings

- Develops and achieves personal and professional goals

- Contributes to the achievement of goals

- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of all standard emergency equipment

- Can train on the use of emergency equipment and care of a critically ill child

- Communication and Collaboration

- Informs managers of issues, concerns, and trends.

- Communicates and collaborates effectively with all members of the health care team.

- Collaborates with the management to implement new policies and procedures. Initiates training on office procedures and workflow, implements new procedures with staff nurses in home office.

- Coordinate's clinic flow to optimize efficiencies.

- Uses electronic health record effectively.

- Gives/Receives peer feedback in a respectful and positive manner.

- Lab Duties

- Analysis of specimens

- Identifies and processes patient samples using appropriate laboratory protocol, inclusive of laboratory safety protocol

- Performs analysis using appropriate procedures including reagent preparation and appropriate QC.

- Operates instruments and equipment accurately and efficiently using established protocol and QC checks.

- Completes analysis within established time deadlines

- Evaluation of results

- Evaluates results obtained from patient and QC samples to assure validity before reporting values

- Laboratory compliance

- Maintains files per individual laboratory protocol

- Performs and documents corrective and preventive maintenance and instrument function checks and records per department policy and protocol, both routine and periodic.

- Recognizes and documents instrument malfunction and takes corrective action by performing repairs or notifying a supervisor.

- Restocks, documents receipt of, opening, and expiration of

- Office Workflow

- Floats to multiple clinics as needed.

- May be moved mid-shift occasionally.

- Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality is required for this position.
