Summary:
Vighter is currently seeking a Registered Nurse - Telemetry for Neuro unit for positions in Buffalo, NY. The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. This position requires a highly skilled nurse with the ability to manage complex neuro medical and neurosurgical patients, interpret telemetry data, perform various phlebotomy tasks, and manage post-procedure care efficiently. Proficiency in NIHSS and familiarity with Cerner EMR are essential. The ideal candidate will possess a current NY lic ense and has 2 years recent experience on Neuro floor and Tele experience in a 300+ bed hospital.

Position Description:
Independently interpret telemetry monitors to assess patient conditions and detect abnormalities.
IV Infusions and Cardiac Drip Management: Administer IV infusions such as insulin and heparin and titrate cardiac drips (e. g., Cardene, Cardizem, Dopamine) according to physician orders.
Conduct detailed monitoring of patients post-procedure, such as Angiography: Vital signs every 15 minutes x4, every 30 minutes x2, every 1-hour x2, every 4 hours x5., s/p TPA (tissue plasminogen activator) monitoring, monitoring patients with carotid stents and sheaths.
Manage various types of drains including lumbar drains, subdural drains, wound vacuums, and pleural vacuums.
Utilize the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) proficiently, maintaining higher patient ratios.
Manage patient ratios typically ranging from 1:5-7.
Independently read telemetry strips; the facility uses Drager and Phillips telemetry units.
Floating: Will float to similar units.
Qualifications:
Current NY RN license.
Minimum two (2) years recent experience on Neuro floor AND Tele experience in a 300+ bed hospital.
Required Certification: AHA BLS, AHA NIHSS
MUST BE ABLE TO READ TELE STRIPS INDEPENDENTLY - facility uses Drager & Phillips tele units
