Division of Disease Control and Public Health Response (DCPHR)
"The Division of Disease Control and Public Health Response exists to ensure that the Department has the ability to effectively monitor, detect, diagnose, prepare for, and nimbly respond to, all types of conditions and events that impact the public's health."
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Tuberculosis Program has statewide responsibility oversight and management of TB. CDPHE contracts with local public health agencies throughout the state to provide TB treatment and control activities according to current treatment standards and Colorado laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to TB treatment and control. CDPHE TB Program staff members provide consultation, training, and education to statewide and internal stakeholders. The staff supports and offers clinical guidance case management of active TB cases in outlying counties, TB surveillance (data collection, data entry, and data analysis), and assists with outreach activities and outbreak investigations. In addition, the CDPHE TB Program provides medications used for treatment of latent or active TB, chest x-ray interpretations, reimbursement for approved laboratory and other medical interventions, and respiratory isolation assistance in compliance with Colorado statutes.
What You Will Be Doing:
This position has existed to provide training and technical expertise for the CDPHE TB Program, local public health agencies, and other external customers. This position serves as the focal point for training for the TB program, and as such, serves as the liaison to and collaborates with CDC, COEs (TB Centers of Excellence), and the TB Education and Training Network for human resource and development. The position is responsible for developing and implementing the program's TB training plan as the Education Coordinator. Position leads TB elimination activities in alignment with the 10-year TB elimination plan for Colorado including the planning, designing, developing, coordinating, and implementing of evidence-based curricula that promote TB elimination and build skills for those that provide indirect and/or direct prevention, case management, and referral services to persons at risk for and/or diagnosed/suspected of TB infecti
