Hennepin Healthcare is hiring a*Staff Nurse RN*(1.0 FTE: 5 days/week, 8 hour shifts) for our Dermatology Clinic in downtown Minneapolis to work day shift.
/**This position is currently Monday-Friday day hours but may expand to include evenings and weekends as we grow./
A sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates (current employees and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible).
-*RESPONSIBILITIES*-
Within the context of the Hennepin Healthcare System Relationship-Based Care practice model, and under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care by:
* Protecting, promoting wellness and optimizing health
* Assessment: Collects and documents comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
* Triaging patients by assessing severity of symptoms and by using approved protocols to assess the severity of the patient's symptoms and then guide the patient to the appropriate level of care
* Alleviating suffering through the treatment of the human response and ensures the delivery of care is in accordance with HCMC standards and policies for safe patient care
* Partnering with the patient, their family and significant others
* Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care utilizing critical thinking skills analyzes data to determine individualized patient follow-up needed. Timely communicates to other members of the health care team information crucial to patient's health
* Educating patient on their disease process and maintains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice
* Assuring continuity of care
* Educating patient and family in preventative care which promotes health and well being
* Professional Practice: Evaluates one's own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules and regulations and engages in lifelong learning
* Medication refills: Under the provider's direction and/or using established and approved protocols, initiates requests for new medications or refills
* Collaboration: Uses the elements and principles of Relationship-Based Care and the unique aspects of diversity to collaborate with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice
* Assist the Dermatologist with outpatient and surgical dermatology procedures
* Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients who are undergoing treatment for a variety of skin conditions and diseases
* Assist with procedures using specialized medical equipment, including cosmetic dermatology
* Perform wound care and be familiar with many types of dressings, topical medications, and wound care routines
* Other duties as assigned but only after appropriate training
*-QUALIFICATIONS:-*
Minimum Qualifications:
* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
* Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota
Preferred Qualifications:
* One year of Nursing experience
* Current Dermatology Certification (or willing to obtain within 12 months of hire date)
* BSN Preferred. Bachelor of Nursing degree is strongly encouraged. Advancement in academic education will be discussed as part of individual professional development during the annual performance review.
