This Senior Health Educator position is a highly responsible position in the community. This is professional work planning and conducting programs to improve public health. Promotes, maintains and improves individual and/or community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors through education and/or awareness campaigns.

Establishes interventions to address literacy issues of public health significance. Specifically, works with other health education staff in coordination with the Sumter County School Board. Assists with Health Education programs such as Healthiest Weight, Healthy Babies, Falls Prevention, Swim Safe Sumter and the Sumter Molar Coaster.

Serves as the Workforce Development (WFD) Plan lead. Ensure all WFD Plan objectives are tracked and completed within established time frames. Develop, monitor, and update the WFD plan while adhering to state deadlines. Submit a WFD annual progress report by state determined deadlines.

Serves as Employee Wellness Committee Chair. Coordinates meetings, newsletter, engages employees on initiatives and strategies to improve health and boost employee wellness.

Administer and report on the Quality of Life program, ensuring all objectives are met on schedule and accurately documented in ClearPoint. Develop and enhance the Quality of Life taskforce by organizing and leading quarterly meetings with a coalition of community members and organizations. Plan and execute an annual event, collaborating with various organizations that serve the community to ensure a successful and impactful event.

Participates in Accreditation activities to ensure department is positioned for continuous quality improvement and maintains accredited posture as an integrated system. Attends Performance Management Council (PMC) meetings and scheduled training as required.

Performs other related duties as assigned. Responds during emergencies and participates as part of the team to work assigned shelters or staff Emergency Operations Center. Incumbents may be required to perform emergency duty before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days.

- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing 30 lbs. or more - unassisted.

- Ability to operate audiovisual equipment.

- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum -

Minimum of one years of presenting education materials at events. (Education can substitute for experience)

Minimum of one years of experience in planning and coordinating health promotions. (Education can substitute for experience)

Ability to lift and/or move objects 30 pounds or more.

Valid State of Florida Driver's License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.

Preferred -

Master's degree in public health from an accredited university.

Experience leading a community coalition.
