**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title: Senior Director of Oncology Social Work and Cancer Support Services, Tisch Cancer Center - Oncology Administration - MSH - Full Time - Day**

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Oncology Social Work and Cancer Support Services to lead our dedicated team in providing exceptional support services to patients with cancer and their families. The Senior Director is a pivotal leadership role within our cancer service line, responsible for overseeing and enhancing the provision of comprehensive social work services to oncology patients, their families and caregivers at our cancer centers. This is a full-time role that combines clinical expertise, program management, and strategic direction to ensure the highest standard of psychosocial care for individuals affected by cancer. This position will oversee oncology social work and integrative support staff across the health system inclusive of ambulatory and inpatient. The Senior Director collaborates closely with Social Work leaders at health system sites, multidisciplinary teams, leads a dedicated group of oncology social workers and other support staff members and contributes to the advancement of patient-centered support services.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Leadership**

Provide visionary leadership to oncology social work, setting strategic goals, and fostering an environment of compassion, empathy, and professionalism.

Oversees the recruitment, training, and professional development of staff members to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across all support services.

Directs the development of budget proposals for operations, consults with senior management on projected organizational plans and financial needs, and makes recommendations for improvement.

**Program Development:**

Develop, implement, and evaluate innovative programs and initiatives to address the diverse psychosocial needs of oncology patients and their families.

Collaborate closely with integrative health staff to integrate complementary therapies and holistic approaches into the overall support framework for cancer patients and their families.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary care team inclusive of administration, oncology clinical teams, and community partners to integrate social work services seamlessly into the overall patient care continuum.

Serve as a thought leader and represent the Tisch Cancer Center's psychosocial services to both internal and external stakeholders in various conferences, accreditations and meetings; and serves on committee of national groups and organizations to further Center's objectives and interests.

**Clinical Supervision and Support** :

Supervise and mentor a team of oncology social work managers and workers ensuring high-quality and culturally competent patient care.

Provide guidance on complex cases, ethical dilemmas, and challenging patient situations.

Conduct regular case conferences, peer reviews, and continuous professional development opportunities for the social work team.

Supervise support staff, and integrative health professionals.

**Patient and Family Advocacy** :

Serve as an advocate for the psychosocial well-being of oncology patients and their families, ensuring their voices are heard, and their needs are addressed throughout their cancer journey.

Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop comprehensive care plans that address emotional, financial, and practical concerns.

**Education and Outreach** :

Develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, and materials to raise awareness about the importance of psychosocial support in oncology care.

Engage in community outreach, partnerships, and initiatives to enhance access to oncology social work services and promote health equity.

**Quality Improvement and Evaluation** :

Report on key performance metrics to track the impact and effectiveness of oncology social work and support services program needs and interventions.

Use data-driven insights to continually improve program outcomes and patient experience.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education Requirements**

Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution required; PhD or equivalent degree preferred

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential.

**Experience Requirements**

Minimum of 10 years of experience in oncology social work, with at least 7 years of progressive leadership experience in oncology social work. Experience in ambulatory and inpatient settings preferred.

Demonstrated success in program development and management.

Strong understanding of the psychosocial needs of cancer patients and their families, as well as knowledge of best practices in supportive care services.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a demonstrated ability to foster a culture of respect and compassion.

Experience in grant writing, fundraising, and budget management preferred.

Ability to navigate complex healthcare systems and advocate for the needs of structurally marginalized populations.

Strategic thinker with a track record of driving organizational change and achieving measurable results in the delivery of psychosocial needs of cancer patients and their families.
