POSITION SUMMARY

Provides orientation, training programs, in-service education, and other educational programs for the development of the nursing staff and other clinical areas, as necessary.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

*All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise*

1. Demonstrates knowledge, awareness of and sensitivity to the physical, emotional, and social psychological needs of neonate through geriatric aged patients. Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles and utilizes these principles while instructing employees and patients.

2. Prepares, organizes, directs, and conducts programs for orientation, training, and in-service education. Conducts new employee orientations describing the policies, benefits, and philosophy of the hospital in accordance with curriculum outline.

3. Schedules classes, evaluates programs and adjusts as necessary, and maintains current accurate records of personnel attendance and participation in education programs.

4. Administrator for myLearning online learning system.

5. Develops, implements, and administers in-service education for nursing staff.

6. Guides, teaches, and supports nursing personnel in the development and implementation of patient care plans and patient educational needs.

7. Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, process improvement programs, and safety standards. Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

8. Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing with a BSN or bachelor's degree in a field related to health care

Skills: Demonstrates nursing, written, and verbal communication skills. Must be able to deal effectively with a changing environment and be open to new ideas. Demonstrates sound clinical skills and judgement. Must be able to use a computer, with the ability to compile statistics. Must be able to coordinate itineraries, meetings, and events. Must be able to research information and to interview others.

Must be able to coordinate schedules and prioritize multiple tasks.

Years of Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years as RN in an acute care facility. Must have previous

experience instructing others.

License: Current Michigan licensure as a Registered Nurse

Certification: ACLS certification, CPR instructor

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master's Degree in Education

WORKING CONDITIONS

Personal Protective Equipment: May require eye protection, mask, gloves, or gown

Physical Demands: Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday with frequent standing/walking and occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling. Must be able to read and speak the English language. Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently, or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25% of ideal body weight. Must be able to handle crisis or emergency situations, along with occasional pressures due to multiple calls and inquiries. Possible exposure to infection and contagious disease, chemical/toxic substances, and bloodborne pathogens from blood and/or bodily fluids.
