Description

The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) assumes responsibilityfor the delivery of nursing and first aid services to employees or persons whoare ill and/or injured on the job in accordance with facility policies,practices, and procedures. TheOccupational Health Nurse demonstrates critical thinking and performanceability in the coordination of care and consistently performs according totheir scope of practice, nursing standards and occupational health andwellness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement andevaluate patient care within the RN scope of practice

Performs focused interviews to identify specific patientneeds

Knowledgeable of nursing techniques and information neededto treat acute injuries/illnesses onsite

In-depth knowledge of health and safety measures

Assists in meeting Occupational and Safety HealthAdministration (OSHA) regulations

Manages crisis's and emergencies safely and efficiently

Helps to maintain and preserve the health of employees intheir work environment

Analyzes and prioritizes risk factors to achieve the highestlevel of health among employees

Communicates information to supervisors, peers, insuranceagencies or customers as applicable following HIPAA regulations

Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon carerequirements

Provides a safe, confidential, comfortable and therapeuticpatient environment

Documents patient's response to nursing and otherinterventions

Monitors safety and effectiveness of the environment andequipment

Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which thenurse practices

One year prior professional Occupational health experiencepreferred

Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable

Current CPR if applicable

TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

Computer proficiency required

Must be at least 18 years of age
