Position Summary:

The RN 2 - Interventional Radiology Nurse Navigator, coordinates with radiologists, schedulers, nursing units, staff, and radiology modalities, organizing procedures and physician workflow for assigned specialty service(s). Coordinates education activities for staff; provides clinical expertise; fulfills a leadership role by taking responsibility for schedule coordination and evaluation of department clinical staff in conjunction with the manger; serves as a liaison between staff, administration, and physicians.

Qualifications:

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License Illinois upon hire and National Nursing Certification within 4 years. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Three (3) years Nursing And Interventional radiology, Critical care, or procedural experience preferred.

Essential Functions:

The RN 2 - Interventional Radiology Nurse Navigator coordinates all aspects of the Interventional Radiology program at CBMC. Provides nursing care to patients undergoing radiology procedures as required. Provides assistance to radiology staff as needed. Fulfills a leadership role by taking responsibility for monitoring and developing efficiencies with daily workflows, scheduling, pre-procedure testing, staff and patient education, applicable policies and procedures, order sets, and inventory for assigned service line. Collaborates and partners with department Service Line Coordinators, radiology modalities, Supply Chain Management and Purchasing across the organization. Ensures appropriate equipment and supplies are available for all cases. Provides direct support to the Physicians and radiology staff who are performing patient care. Responsible for obtaining and updating all Physician Preference Cards for new and existing physicians.

Provides direct patient care as the primary Interventional Radiology Nurse. Coordinates assistance with Cath Prep and Recovery charge RN, and other departmental Svc Line Coordinators when additional nursing resources are required. Will cross train to provide patient care and procedural coverage in the Cath Prep and Recovery area. May assist in Cath/IR interventional Lab procedures and/or other cardiac service areas as needed.

Maintains/completes competency checklist specific to service line, to include capital and disposable equipment communication and process.

Responsible/Accountable for procedure suite efficiency related to service line (s) to Include: a) on time starts in collaboration with the Leadership Team; b) Reviews future schedule to ensure appropriate equipment/supplies are available for all cases in collaboration with the Inventory Coordinator.

Responsible/Accountable for service line equipment needs, in collaboration with the providers and capital/disposable equipment buyer.

Responsible/Accountable for staff education and training related to Service Line Specific Work flows, scheduling, billing, Capital Equipment, and disposables.

Responsible/Accountable for staff and physician satisfaction, efficiency, and work flow related to service line, facilitating a smooth process for every patient.

Participates in the VAT process as needed.

Maintain a reasonable supply inventory for procedure rooms/assigned service line.

Provides input to the manager for equipment purchases.

Assists management in maintaining and developing a budget for supplies and equipment

Maintains constant flow of communication with leadership, staff, and providers regarding patient or supply issues.

Provides education and orientation to new and existing staff members.

Responsible/Accountable for daily equipment, temperature, humidity, anesthesia carts, point of care quality assurance, and product out dates, and monthly crash cart/emergency equipment checks.

Provides input on performance appraisals for staff to leadership.

Collaborates with the physicians for program growth and development.

Coordinates education and competencies for staff.

Ensures the supplies are available for procedures to be performed.

Ensures staff schedule supports the procedure schedule.

Provides input on procedure schedule feasibility.
