Description

1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.

ICU Nursing Care, generally a 2:1 ratio. Lots of vents and drips. May need to assist with beside line placement, bronchs, chest tubes, etc.

2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)

Epic, Pyxis, Client Monitors, Stryker ICU beds, Caminos, Maquet Booms

3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.

2 years ICU experience

4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)

WI RN license, current BLS and ACLS, prefer CCRN and TNCC - not required

5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)

Will never work alone; no call required

Required every other weekend and every other holiday; all 12 hour shifts

6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)

Float between MSICU and CICU is most likely, then to the step-down units (CTU and IMC) if needed, and there is a possibility of floating to the Med-Surg inpatient units if there is a need: Palliative, Onc, Medical, Post-Surgical and also Inpatient Rehab and Clinical Decision Unit. Contract staff is first to float - consistent throughout the facility.

7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.

16 beds/16 rooms

8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)

Usually 2:1; certain circumstances may be 1:1 - CRRT, very unstable; occasionally may require 3:1 if there are step- down patients in ICU as Overflow

9. Dress Code:

Scrubs - any color, close-toed nonslip shoes

10. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.

General Nursing Orientation and 2 orientation shifts in the unit
