**Position Description:**Perform duties inherent to a RN in the respective department.
**Qualifications:**Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and must hold current RN licensure in the state of Indiana. Possess Basic Life Support certification. Willingness to consult with physician, pharmacist, or other medical professional if need arises. Other certifications might be required depending on department policies.
**PRIMARY DUTIES:**
- Assess assigned patients for overall conditions and needs, coordinates and gives care appropriately including treatments, all medications, initiates and maintains IV therapy, blood/blood product administration, etc. Initiates and modifies care plans and goals, initiates discharge planning and teaching. Prescribes appropriate nursing actions to meet the goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient.
- Assist physicians as needed, transcribe and implement physicians orders appropriately and accurately. Report to the physician or appropriate person any pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients and record these accurately in the medical record.
- Coordinate patient care with other team members and assigns duties in accordance with patients needs and the personnels capabilities and qualifications. Directs, supervises, and evaluates nursing care provided to patient by other nursing team members such as PCT or LPN.
- Performs assessments for overall conditions and needs, interprets data, and delivers all nursing care with an age-appropriate focus.
- Facilitates an efficient and accurate admission and disposition process; assists with initial interview collection (includes items such as patient history, VS, height, weight, allergies, screening information), transfer of patients both within the hospital and to other facilities, and discharges.
- Performs assessments, interprets data, and delivers all nursing care with an age-appropriate focus.
- Communicates professionally, consistently, and effectively with all team members to ensure coordination and prioritization of patient care duties and responsibilities.
- Willingness to learn and work in a self-directed, flexible, agile team approach.
- Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and treats appropriately per ACLS guidelines and hospital policy and procedure. May be assigned/responsible for Med/Surg level patients and remote telemetry units on the unit if competent. Documents cardiac rhythms strips according to policy.
- Demonstrates ability to monitor hemodynamic status of patients if proven competency and correctly interpret the results. Interprets lab and Diagnostic Imaging results; reports findings to the physician.
