Summary The Orlando VA Medical Center is looking for a Registered Nurse - OAA PB-RNR Director is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of the PB-RNR Program. The director is responsible for the development, oversight, and maintenance for the PB-RNR Program. The PB-RNR Director utilize a team approach, strongly encouraging staff involvement and the opportunity for program involvement. Responsibilities VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards The OAA PB-RNR Director facilitates the successful retention of residents. The OAA PB-RNR Director utilizes their clinical nurse education expertise to optimize program development and with the goal of obtaining and/or maintaining a certified program. This position is located at the Orlando VAMC Nursing, The Education section, OAA PB-RNR Director and reports to the Chief Nurse Education and Research. They provide ongoing assessment and validation of data required by the Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA).Other duties include: establishing and revising (as needed) a 12-month program curriculum that is centered in management and delivery of quality and equitable care, professional role, and leadership development based in the CCNE Accreditation Standards; collaborating with nursing leadership (formal and informal) on program leadership; determining the OAA PB-RNR start date in collaboration with the directive; facilitating the selection of OAA PB-RNR residents in collaboration with the directive; coordinating instructor/facilitators and classrooms for learning sessions and confirmation/communication of dates/times; ensuring the program curriculum reflects evidence-based practice and identifies expected learning outcomes; facilitating the identification and selection of a mentor and supporting the mentee/mentor relationship; directing, coordinating, and providing programmatic guidance for the new RNs, preceptors, and other OAA PB-RNR Residency Program team members; communicating any concerns/issues that may arise to appropriate program stakeholders; working with Nurse Recruitment and Human Resources to ensure proper coding of the residents; participating in monthly OAA updates/education calls; coordinating a graduation or recognition ceremony at completion of the OAA PB-RNR Program; and completing all required program evaluations, reports, and data requests by the deadlines set. The OAA PB-RNR Director has a global understanding of how their area(s) of responsibility supports the system's mission and vision. They are responsible and accountable for the planning, organization, and evaluation of effectiveness related to clinical, informatics, and/or administrative process changes, analyzing issues impeding change, developing corrective actions to expedite change, and assuring optimum utilization of available resources to maintain a climate conducive to quality patient care and employee satisfaction. The OAA PB-RNR Director functions as a formal and informal educator; serving as a liaison between internal and external customers, supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction, considering the client population, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. They influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Work Schedule: Full time, TOD 0700-1530, Flexibility required in to ensure coverage for the operation of the facility. Telework: Ad-Hoc only as needed Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications Basic Requirements: English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U. S. C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); OR Individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may have opportunity to become registered as a nurse with a state licensing board prior to completion of the bridge program. Upon achievement of a State license, the individual may be appointed on temporary basis and later converted to a permanent appointment upon successful completion and graduation from the bridge program. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6); OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant an appointment as a Nurse who has completed an associated degree/entry level Nursing education program. Credit for foreign nursing education higher that associate degree/entry level requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD). Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i. e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception: Candidates who otherwise meet the basic education requirements, but do not possess the required licensure, may be appointed at the entry step of the grade and level applicable to the completed nursing education as a GNT on a 120-day temporary appointment while actively pursuing licensure (may be extended up to two years on a case-by-case-basis.)
