Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director, Quality Resources , the Quality Specialist/ Ambulatory Quality Specialist is responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting metrics designed to support safety a nd quality of care . The Quality Specialist/ Ambulatory Quality S pecialist collaborates with members of the Quality Resources Department to design, develop and implement tools for measuring organizational performance in the areas of clinical outcomes, external reporting, and compliance with local, state, and federal standards . The Quality Specialist assists the respective Chief to maintain quality care within the acute care setting; the Ambulatory Quality Specialist assists to integrate quality care across service lines. These individual s work with respective Service Chiefs to establish key metrics that will enhance medical management and drive continuous improvements in patient outcomes, including reducing unexpected hospital admissions .

This is a full-time 40 hour/ week position
Responsibilities:
Within the scope of established position description practices independently, however reports inconsistencies and variances to the Director . It is expected the Quality Specialist/ Ambulatory Quality Specialist will demonstrate initiative in accomplishing the primary responsibilities of this position with little direct supervision.
Serves as liaison and resource to the Chief of assigned departments
In collaboration with the Chief, d evelops key quality mea sures for designated services
Attend department meetings
Coordinates quality monitoring dashboards and analysis reports for Quality Improvement Committees [QICs].
Works with the Manager of Regulatory Compliance to ensu re all settings that are on the DPH license comply with TJC standards and the CMS COPs
Supports Medical S taff credentialing as requested
Supports the SMG Quality Department with Culture of Safety implementation and continuing education.
Supports the P atient Advocate with patient complaints that are reported for those practices that are on the DPH license
Supports , as requested , the ACO quality metrics
Special projects/Committees as assigned

Education/Experience/Licenses/Technical/Other:
Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse License
Bachelors in Nursing required, Masters in health related field preferred
Quality Specialist: Minimum five years clinical nursing experience, preferably in an acute care hospital setting Ambulatory Quality Specialist: Minimum 3 years practice in ambulatory or medical practice setting
Previous regulatory or quality management experience preferred
Clinical abstraction experience strongly preferred
Working knowledge of Meditech system preferred
