The College of Education (COE) at the University of Oregon is a community of leading researchers and practitioners dedicated to transformational scholarship, integrated teaching, and collaborative practice designed to enhance individual lives and systems within a culture that values diversity and promotes respect and inclusion.
The COE is home to 3 academic departments, 14 academic degree programs, 14 research and outreach units, the HEDCO Institute, and the HEDCO Clinic. Position Summary
The University of Oregon's Education Studies Department (EDST) in the College of Education seeks to create a pool of qualified candidates to fill periodic vacancies for temporary teaching appointments in the areas of educational methodology, educational policy, and leadership. Positions are limited-duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. Appointments may range from one to three terms per year, including summer.
Some courses meet during evenings or weekends or are delivered to distant sites via video conferencing. Some courses are offered exclusively online; in these cases, instructors should make themselves available for student contact via email, Zoom office hours, or phone in lieu of in-person office hours. Travel within Oregon and to West Coast states may be required for some courses.

Minimum Requirements
- Doctoral or terminal degree in a relevant field (e. g. education, research methodology, law, etc.)
- Relevant expertise and experience by course content
Professional Competencies
- Demonstrated potential to contribute positively to our diverse community and to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills that will enhance community relations and support graduate student training
- Ability to teach a broad array of applied leadership courses on topics such as research methodology, policy, leadership, and writing.
Preferred Qualifications
All courses:
- Previous successful experience with the course(s) and relevant experience in university-level instruction.
Research Methodology courses:
- Experience either in previous teaching of research courses or direct experience in conducting educational studies in K-16 setting
- Expertise in at least one of these areas: (a) designing research studies, (b) measuring development and scaling, (c) data structuring and management, (d) statistical analyses (both parametric and non-parametric), and (e) writing summaries of results for technical reports and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Policy courses:
- Experience in the development and/or interpretation of policies in educational/institutional settings at the federal, state, or local levels
- Expertise in at least one of these areas: (a) writing policies, (b) writing policy briefs, (c) reviewing constituencies for analysis of risk and consequence, (d) understanding of legislation (both laws and regulations) and legal imp
