The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Stony Brook Children's Hospital and the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is seeking a full time Board certified/Board eligible Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to join a growing academic and clinical division. Candidates must possess or be eligible for New York State licensure.

We are supported by the presence of all major pediatric subspecialists along with a strong pediatric surgery department and a dedicated pediatric emergency room. The caliber of our clinical services and research has earned us the designation as a children's hospital by the Children's Hospital Association.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

As an academic institution, this position requires a significant commitment to teaching across the undergraduate to graduate medical education spectrum. Interest in research, scholarship and quality improvement initiatives are highly encouraged.

The medical school environment and prestigious Health Sciences Center provide an excellent opportunity for Clinical and Basic Science Research for candidates pursuing an academic career. Research activities are supported by an NIH funded General Clinical Research Center (GCRC). Present division research and scholarly interests include clinical oncology, oncology survivorship, palliative care, AYA cancer, bone marrow failure, and oncofertility.

The clinical services of Stony Brook Children's serve the nearly 500,000 children of Suffolk County, New York, and boasts the following resources:

  • Stony Brook Children's opened its new Children's Hospital in November 2019. This space is part of Stony Brook Medicine's $423 million expansion project, which also includes a Medical and Research Translation (MART) building.
  • A 10-bed Med-Surg PICU featuring large individual rooms, a bariatric room, and capacity for 2 additional step-down beds.
  • Dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department to undergo expansion.
  • Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.
  • A 150-person Pediatrics faculty covering all Pediatric Subspecialties including Adolescent Medicine, Allergy/Immunology, Cardiology, Child Abuse and Advocacy, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Genetics, Hematology/Oncology, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Disease, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Pulmonology, and Rheumatology.
  • Pediatric Surgical Specialists in General Surgery, ENT, Neurosurgery, and Trauma as well as additional expertise in Pediatric Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Vascular Surgery, Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery and Renal Transplantation.
  • Pediatric, Med/Peds, and Child Neurology residency training programs and selected subspecialty fellowships.
  • Rich research resources for laboratory, translational, and clinical research exist within the 20 clinical departments of the Medical School and the larger University. Competitive seed money support within the Department exists for junior investigators or mid-career investigators pursuing new directions.
