The palliative medicine team's mission is to provide high-quality, interdisciplinary, patient-centered care, for those with life-limiting or terminal conditions. Candidates who are motivated to join a growing and evolving specialty will find many opportunities to improve the quality of life for the sickest patients in a community. Palliative medicine champions collaboration within its own team and among many specialties. Candidates who appreciate the "big picture" with respect to a patient's clinical trajectory and enjoy teaching will find this work has the potential to substantively shape the landscape of serious illness and the end-of-life experience for many patients.
