Your Specific Responsibilities:

Title: OPS Nutrition Educator

Location:Daytona Beach

As a Nutrition Educator you will be responsible for but not limited to:

Certifying WIC eligible participants.

Providing nutrition assessment, certification, and counseling of WIC applicants as a Competent Professional Authority (CPA) using VENA (Value Enhanced Nutritional Assessment) counseling techniques.

Completing all initial and ongoing training required for a CPA.

Assessing participants for high-risk status and completes high risk care plans per current protocol.

Providing low and high-risk contacts per protocol.

Documenting interactive counseling sessions per required format.

Promoting breastfeeding for pregnant/postpartum women.

Completing quality assurance for high-risk clients monthly as assigned.

Providing/documenting healthcare referrals for community resources, as needed by the participant.

Implementing WIC outreach objectives to include all WIC sites according to established goals set by state WIC office and local agency.

Proving outreach packets to physician staff and community organizations.

Attending community events as a representative of the WIC program.

Other Related duties:

Timely accurate completion of EARs, timesheets, time summaries and trainings in compliance with local agency requirements.

Emergency duty including but not limited to shelter duty as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic medical terminology, ability to interview patients and obtain a complete medical history.

Knowledge of the science and current practice of nutrition or dietetics.

Knowledge of the concepts and theories of nutrition or dietetics as it related to growth, development, health, or disease.

Knowledge of nutritional and dietary assessment techniques.

Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred

Experience working in Public Health/ Community Nutrition/WIC

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in nutrition science, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition.

Willing and able to travel to outlying clinic or community sites in Volusia County.
