Oncology Nurse

Job Description

In this role, you will: - Use ONS standards and guidelines. - Maintain accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste, per OSHA and HRS guidelines. - Be responsible for ongoing patient assessment. - Enter thorough and accurate documentation in OncoEMR of treatment rendered to patients. - Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for appropriate administration of all therapies. - Follow the Company's I. D. policy and procedure with every patient encounter. - Act as moderator/instructor for chemotherapy classes as needed. - Educate patients and, when appropriate, their family about medications, side effects, and planned treatment course. - Interact with patients and their families in a caring, professional manner. - Prioritize incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices, from emergent to non-urgent. Must respond accordingly in an appropriate time frame. - Assist with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies when called upon. Recommend purchase of new items as needed. Place stock in storage areas in a timely manner. - Have working knowledge of dispensing medications via Nucleus. Able to perform cycle counts. Restock medications within the appropriate time frame. Enter all appropriate patient charges into Nucleus.

Hard Skills

Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of employment

Experience in IV infusion/therapy

Oncology experience required (drip management experience preferred if no oncology experience)

Critical care experience

Port accessing experience

Current CPR & BLS certifications

Fluency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills

Valid Driver's license, in state of residency, for travel to clinics

Soft Skills

Ability to assess patient needs and condition

Strong critical thinking skills

Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Professional and caring interaction with patients and their families
