Summary The High Reliability Organization (HRO) Registered Nurse Program Manager serves as the instigator of strong, safe clinical processes across VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (VAECHCS). The incumbent works with the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) Service, reporting to the Section Chief for High Reliability Organization. The incumbent collaborates with Patient Safety Manager(s) & other QPS stakeholders. Interviews for the position may request writing sample to demonstrate writing skills. Position Duties: The incumbent provides leadership to coordinate and implement the principals of an HRO across all areas of the healthcare system. The incumbent works collaboratively with various VAECHCS QPS stakeholders, VAECHCS leaders, VAECHCS HRO champions/volunteers, as well as VISN and VHA HRO Stakeholders for HRO culture implementation, spread and sustainment. Responsible for the documented outcomes of the HRO program Demonstrate sound decision-making and judgment and possess excellent interpersonal skills Collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary team and leading to process improvement initiatives Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines Initiates, leads, and participates in quality improvement activities to collect data, analyze results, and recommend practice changes that will minimize risk to the patients and improve overall patient outcomes. The HRO RN Lead trains and coordinates patient safety activities of personnel within the organization, such as patient safety managers, infection control professionals, risk managers, and quality managers. The HRO RN Lead has responsibility for training clinicians, management, and all relevant support personnel within their facilities, about the HRO/patient safety program and analyses processes. The HRO RN Lead directly supports organization leadership in areas of planning, organization, development, direction, and evaluation of the HRO program within the organization. Ensures planning, coordinating, tracking, reporting and communicating objectives to the various stakeholders both external and internal to VA Creates a positive work environment which enhances care delivery and professional development of clinically competent staff Promotes, creates and demonstrates and ensures a culturally diverse workforce where the needs of all individuals are respected Initiates and leads interdisciplinary groups in addressing performance and risk management activities to improve patient outcomes and quality of care Establishes effective relationships and provides leadership and consultation to members of the clinical and administrative staff to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency Facilitates interdisciplinary communication of policies and procedures The HRO Lead collaborates with both administrative and clinical services to monitor quality and safety within the services and healthcare system. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); OR Individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may have opportunity to become registered as a nurse with a state licensing board prior to completion of the bridge program.
