About the Office of Medical Education Technology

Position Summary:

The Medical Education Technology Operations Manager provides leadership and support for the direction of the Technical Support, Technology Equipment, and Infrastructure functions of the Office of Medical Education Technology for the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. This position will oversee the execution of operational technology improvement projects, as well as maintenance of the technology infrastructure supporting desktop services, classroom equipment operations for Heritage College. Additionally, this position will ensure customer services standards and processes throughout the three campuses of the Heritage College and ensure accessibility, applicability, and functionality of all technical services for all faculty, staff, and students at the Heritage College and partner hospitals in Ohio.

Primary Responsibilities:

Desktop Services, Classroom Equipment, and Infrastructure Leadership, Support and Management

Represent campus technology operations. Identify and provide active response to site technology needs, requests and initiatives as communicated with HCOM Senior Leadership, the Assistant Director, and Director of Medical Education Technology Operations.

Standardize and provide desktop services processes across the three campuses of the Heritage College and ensure alignment with OIT standards and procedures.

Ensures the maintenance and seamless operation of all classroom equipment throughout the three campuses of the Heritage college.

Provide oversight, as well as hands-on technical support for all tiers of support for learning technologies to include applications, or academic classroom, laboratory and learning center media support.

Provides expertise and support to assist in identifying and designing solutions for complex proprietary classroom, meeting room, telehealth and platform needs to support service delivery and strategic initiatives.

Strategic Planning, Security, & Process Improvement

Assists OMET Leadership in strategic planning for the Office of Medical Education Learning Technology as it supports three campuses and over 2000 preceptors across the State of Ohio.

Ensures development, documentation, implementation and adherence to technology and security standards and procedures across all three Heritage College campuses. Collaborate with OIT to effectively utilize University resources.

Identifies and implements process improvements that result in time and cost savings to the Heritage College.

Serves on committees and as a learning technology subject matter expert for college level projects and University level consultations.

Maintains a working knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and vendor best practices and incorporates them into associated curriculum delivery technologies and systems infrastructures.

Develop and maintain successful relationships with internal and external constituents.

Understands, implements and instructs Faculty, Staff, and Students on policies, procedures, and best practices when it comes to medical data and other sensitive data, provides instruction and guidance to faculty and staff to apply these policies and procedures. Preferred experience with electronic medical records and HIPAA / FERPA standards.

Oversee asset management processes and ensure compliance throughout the three campuses of the Heritage College. Ensure asset replacement is accounted for in the budget planning process.

Manage user access to applications to ensure user system access and functions are appropriately aligned with job function. Manage and maintenance of various computing devices and audio & video equipment for simulated patient environments. Includes the responsibility to document, analyze and track the appropriate level of access, especially concerning protection of sensitive data as it relates to HIPAA and FERPA requirements. Group Policy and System Center Configuration Manager ( SCCM ) experience preferred but not required.

Academic Classroom, and Telehealth Infrastructure Support & Oversight

Oversee maintenance of the Heritage College classroom infrastructure to ensure seamless operations of distance learning through the three campuses.

Ensure business continuity plans are continually updated to support infrastructure needs of the Heritage College.

Ensure the operation and support of the distance learning infrastructure for all campuses of the Heritage College. (Including but not limited to T1V, Poly Bridge, MS Teams, Zoom, Crestron XIO , etc.)

Provides expertise to ensure a seamless distance learning experience for Faculty, Staff, and Students.

Ensure active Faculty, Staff, and Student participation and engagement using video conferencing or other interactive and distance learning technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

6 years of related professional experience

*Equivalent combination of experience/education may be substituted

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Education Technology, Information Management, or equivalent

Master's degree
