Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse performs nursing procedures and patient care tasks as assigned by the facility under the direction of the managing team, Director of Nurses and/or Physician.
A Licensed Practical Nurse will perform a variety of duties to care and comfort for patients requiring medical services. The LPN must utilize specialized skills and judgment when delivering care to patients and implements and evaluates patient care while performing nursing procedures to treat and rehabilitate patients.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform nursing care tasks and procedures consistent with individual treatment plans; administer medications as prescribed; observe and report individual's responses to treatment and changes in health status; attend to individual's personal needs, such as activities of daily living and hygiene tasks, and provide health teaching to individuals.
  • Obtain and records individual's temperatures, blood pressures, pulse rates, and other vital signs using standard instruments and procedures.
  • As a Licensed Practical Nurse under the supervision of an RN, you would be involved in the treatment of residents. You would administer certain medications; observe residents and report changes in their condition; take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; and obtain specimens for analysis.
  • Prepare and apply simple dressings; bathe and feed residents; and care for residents and their quarters by performing such tasks as making beds, changing linen, lifting, and moving residents and caring for their personal effects.
  • Incumbent will be responsible for providing professional nursing services utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation/reevaluation.
  • Monitors supplies to assure adequate to meet resident needs.
  • Communicates patient's needs to medical staff for coordination of care.
  • Duties may include resident admission screening process which involves travel as necessary.
  • Participates in development and enforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Participates in fiscal management, performance evaluations, maintains infection control standards, wound management, continuous quality improvement programs, formal and informal education.
  • May also provide supervision to subordinate professional, paraprofessional, and support staff in the performance of their resident care duties as well as facility supervision.
Requirements:
  • Currently a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
  • Must have one year of current experience.
  • BLS certified.
Additional Information:
Shift: Mostly evenings and nights are available, with every other weekend and some holidays.
Hours: Full-Time
Contract Length: Up to 2 years.
