**GENERAL SUMMARY** **:**

The Director of Operations is responsible for the overall operational success of the medical practices assigned to them. Provides strategic leadership and direction utilizing the tools that have been provided, including the coordination of all practice activities except those directly involving professional medical judgment. Ensures the development and implementation of service line plans within assigned specialties, driving practice financial viability and improving operations in terms of quality and processes. Works in collaboration with Florida Hospital support departments in order to meet the needs of the practices and maintain efficient operations. Position requires a high degree of independence, initiative, judgment and follow-through on a wide range of sensitive and complex issues.

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** **:**

· Leads the day-to-day operations and finances of the medical practices and aligns these initiatives with the strategic vision of Florida Hospital to promote overall practice growth and development.

· Hires and supervises Practice Administrators, office managers, associate directors and other ancillary management staff as applicable.

· Drives financial accountability according to goals and budgets.

· Drives expected outcomes for local and corporate established operational goals.

· Drives improvement around patient experience initiatives set by division or AHS.

· This position is responsible for the management of all practice providers (physicians, APP's) and practice managers within their respective markets. Works in collaboration with the FHPG CMO on clinical issues related to the providers.

· Engages providers in meeting productivity, clinical quality and service quality goals.

· Conducts monthly Practice Operating Council (POC) meetings with every practice in their assigned markets. Discusses financial, quality, operational goals. Identifies gaps within each goal and works with the POC to determine strategies to close gaps.

· Establishes strong working relationships with Florida Hospital administrative and support teams to provide professional support in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to meet and advance the specific practices goals, aligned with the overall strategy of the organization.

· Works to create an environment of efficient practice operations in cooperation with the appropriate support systems to provide timely and accurate information as needed. Holds practices accountable to accuracy and timeliness of charge entry, demographic entry, receipt entry, managed care referrals, and other billing and insurance functions.

· Reviews and evaluates the performance of practices and provides relevant information to Senior Hospital and FHPG Leadership.

· Responsible for ensuring the consistent and appropriate interpretation, evaluation and application of the policies and procedures as established by Florida Hospital.

· Promotes and develops effective and efficient communication strategies in order to promote a positive work environment and optimal operational workflow.

· Maintains a process of consistent accountability by providing effective leadership and direction to managers and staff, as well as promoting effective customer service strategies.

· Aligns with peer Directors to identify challenges in the environment, opportunities for improvement and items requiring intervention as appropriate.

· Proactively facilitates and manages change to foster employee and leadership acceptance and support.

· Supports the optimal operational workflow of practices through cooperation, collaboration, communication, and flexibility with support departments on their behalf.

· Meets with Practice Administrators on a weekly basis; meets with Physicians at least once a month.

· Maintains working knowledge of industry trends, legislation and regulatory standards, related to practice operations. Determines fiscal requirements, assists in the preparation of annual budgets and strives to meet expense expectations.

· Attends standing monthly business meetings with hospital leadership to include operations, finance, patient safety, and strategy.

· Responsible for early recognition and the acquisition of infrastructure needs and approves all personnel request (including mid-level providers) made by practices.

· Follows established on-boarding and separation procedures and timelines.

· Supports and participates in marketing initiatives for Physician Enterprise, in collaboration with marketing departments and the management team.

· Analyzes monthly financial statements and statistical reports to develop a summary of trends and key variances from budget and reviews reports with Senior Leadership, Physicians, and Practice Administrators.

· Designs, recommends, implements, and assists in the orientation programs of the physician practices.

· Responsible for ensuring and tracking employee competencies and training.

· Ensures timely performance evaluation of immediate subordinates and makes recommendations for personnel actions.

· Ensures accurate personnel records are maintained for all staff members, including physicians.

· Documents and provides assistance to Practice Administrators and Office Managers, assisting them in performing personnel management activities, including merit increases, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions to ensure quality patient care.

· Approves all employee evaluations and documentation prior to providing to the employee.

· Supports the development of direct reports by proactively mentoring administrators and managers.

· Facilitates educational opportunities in order to support management team and guides the development of new leaders within the organization.

· Encourages professional growth and fosters the ability for direct reports to improved skill set and promotes retention.

· Maintains a positive approach to resolving issues and implementing solutions.

· Takes time to listen and provide explanations, while anticipating the needs of the practices.

· Efficiently and effectively communicates necessary strategic information and acknowledges all communication within 24-48 hours.

· Supports the finance team and complies with policies and procedures established by Florida Hospital.

· Owns the creation and implementation of action plans for practices, as appropriate.

· Assist in the recommendation and procurement of capital equipment, as requested.

· Acts as the driver/initiator of developing specialized reports.
