**Job Title:** Senior Coordinator Medical Education

**Summary:**
The Coordinator of Medical Student Education has comprehensive oversight of the day-to-day operations of Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This position orchestrates various educational initiatives, including, but not limited to, the coordination of the Core Clinical Clerkship and 4th year student electives and sub-internships. The UME Coordinator also helps support the Reproduction course and assists in selection and integration of external visiting students into department's educational framework.
Working closely with the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, Ob/Gyn Clerkship Directors, Elective Directors, and the Ob/Gyn Vice Chair for Education, the UME Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and optimizing the educational experiences and assessments of over 150 medical students annually. This entails not only ensuring adherence to established curricular goals but also fostering an environment conducive to robust learning and professional growth. The UME coordinator is included on medical student evaluations as this position directly impacts positive or negative experience. The UME Coordinator will assist the Clerkship Directors with all aspects of medical student education including program development.
The UME Coordinator needs to have an in-depth understanding of the curricular objectives, policies, and quality standards governing both the Ob/Gyn Core Clerkship and CME programs. By leveraging this knowledge, coupled with strong organizational acumen and interpersonal skills, the UME Coordinator plays a pivotal role in advancing the Department's educational mission and maintaining its reputation for excellence in medical education.
**Responsibilities:**
UME
Collaborate with the Perelman School of Medicine and Faculty to determine the distribution of OG200, OG300, visiting students, and observers across clinical services
Coordinate OG200 lectures, TBL sessions, and clinical rotations
Schedule inpatient and outpatient rotations for 20-25 medical students per block
Oversee simulation training and schedule
Assist with goals and objectives for didactic curriculum and clinical rotations
Engage in day-to-day communication with students and residents regarding ongoing clerkship activities
Develop, organize and implement the OB200 Orientation (every 6 weeks / 8x per year), which requires in person public speaking/presentations
Update and maintain CANVAS online system
Maintain OASIS evaluation system to ensure that faculty and resident feedback is entered in the TED evaluation system in accordance with University requirements
Assist with collection and preparation of student evaluations (assignments, feedback cards, US logs, attendance and professionalism)
Produce reports of evaluation data as needed
Assist Clerkship Directors in composing student evaluation summaries using OASIS evaluation system
Oversee educational experience at participating sites and maintain excellent relationships with off-site locations
Coordinate 4th year student electives and sub-internships
Ensure departmental observers are in compliance with Human Resource requirements
Process clerkship related expenses and invoices
Serve as a member of the Department's Grand Rounds CME team
Assist in nomination and selection process for student graduation prizes and annual resident awards
Education Liaison
Communicate regularly with Administration at Penn Medical School
Communicate with Teaching Faculty and coordinators regarding medical student rotations
Address questions and concerns from medical students
Attend education coordinators meetings with the Medical School
Coordinate Ob/Gyn Student Education Executive Meetings with Course Director and Associate Course Director
Stay updated with new requirements and guidelines coming from the School of Medicine
Administrative Responsibilities
Provide backup and cross-coverage for the Resident and Fellowship Coordinators
Maintain Student Education website
Order and inventory medical and office supplies for education use
Possibly participate in residency or fellowship program interviews as needed
Provide assistance to the Clerkship Director(s) as needed
**Education or Equivalent Experience:**
Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required) And 5+ years Progressively responsible administrative experience.
Master of Arts or Science And 2+ years' Experience in Graduation Medical Education.
5+ years Business, Education, Academics or Administrative experience.
