**How you make a difference**
The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for coordinating the orientation process of nursing staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide quality patient care. They assess staff competency and deliver ongoing education tailored to departmental needs, identifying areas requiring staff development and designing targeted in-service training programs. By focusing on patient-centered care and optimizing the efficient and cost-effective utilization of health resources, the Clinical Nurse Educator plays a vital role in enhancing the overall effectiveness of the healthcare team.
**Key Responsibilities**
Develop and maintain an effective staff education program, including planning and coordinating individualized orientations for all nursing staff and facilitating continuing education programs.
Coordinate hospital-wide employee orientation and implement educational programs for nursing staff, ensuring ongoing competence through assessment and documentation.
Serve as a resource to nurses regarding clinical practice, ensuring staff competencies and clinical competencies are met.
Collaborate with the Training Coordinator and Performance Improvement and Compliance Administrator to schedule education classes and ensure adequate care and documentation.
Stay updated on trends and developments in the field by attending seminars and conferences, and actively participate in meetings, including facilitating training affiliation agreements with local nursing schools and reviewing and revising policies as needed.
**Qualifications & Requirements**
Education
Graduate from a National League of Nursing (NLN) accredited school of nursing.
Bachelor's Degree in nursing education or other related healthcare or education field highly preferred.
Experience
Must have at least two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
Licenses/Certifications
Must have and maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
Must be certified as a Basic Life Support Instructor and maintain certification in basic life support (BLS) as a health care provider.
