Pay Range: $36.69-$48.10*
Provides care for patients in a post anesthesia care setting. Provides nursing care to patients receiving all types of anesthetic agents, applying the nursing process to actual or potential physical or psychosocial problems that may result from the use of such agents. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for the patient in Surgical Services in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Nursing Department. Responsibilities include directing unlicensed employee activity, synthesizing patient information, assessment of patients, planning of care/intervention, teaching patients/family, implementation of treatment plan/MD orders, and evaluation of care rendered. The RN must effectively communicate and document data relevant to the care of the patient. In addition, the RN collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Ability to lift, bend, and stand for long periods of time. Adheres to established code(s) of ethics for nurses. Willing learner and team player. Knowledge of growth and development across the life span with the ability to use that knowledge to individualize the plan and delivery of care.
Qualifications:
Current New York State RN License.
BLS Certification.
Successful completion of ACLS and PALS within 90 days post start date.
Successful completion of the Critical Care Course within 6 months of position start date. ASPAN Certification preferred.
Three years of nursing experience preferred.
Knowledge of anesthetic agents, techniques and patient responses to same required.
Strong patient teaching skills required.
Experience in operating room, pain management, and/or endoscopy procedures preferred.
