**Job Summary**
Assistant Health Educator ( AHE ) is a part-time paid position at the Utah Poison Control Center ( UPCC ). UPCC employs Health Educators to implement poison prevention programs that contribute to the health and safety of Utahns. Gain valuable experience while learning and developing skills related to public health and health education. The AHE supports the Outreach Education Manager to plan, implement, and evaluate poison prevention programs and distribute materials.
**Responsibilities**
* Receive education orders via phone, fax or mail
* Prepare for and participate in outreach education events such as tabling at health fairs and giving presentations
* Assist in developing, distributing, and organizing educational materials
* Assist in creating and monitoring social media education
* Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating poison prevention programs and communication materials
* Assist the Instructor of the Outreach Poison Prevention elective for the University of Utah, College of Pharmacy class as necessary
* Perform other duties related to the work as needed

**Minimum Qualifications**
High school diploma or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. One year full-time customer service experience or equivalency, demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
**Preferences**
* Bachelor's degree or degree seeing in area of health promotion & education, public health or related field
* Familiar with health literacy principles
* Excellent time management and organization skills
* Previous experience in communication such as giving presentations, public speaking, or customer service
* Ability to speak Spanish
