Summary This position is located in the Surgery Department of the Pine Ridge Service Unit in Pine Ridge South Dakota. The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) serves as an "Independent Licensed Practitioner". As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), the incumbent is individually responsible for the anesthesia care delivered. Reports to the Clinical Director at the Pine Ridge Service Unit. Responsibilities Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Total Compensation | Pay () Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Pay Table: GS-0610, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)/Supervisory CRNA () Participates in the pre-operative assessment of the surgical patient by reviewing the clinical chart and interviewing the patient in order to ascertain the patient's physical status Administers general anesthesia to induce the patient to the proper state of narcosis Manages the post-anesthesia care of patients by reviewing clinical chart, conducting interviews to determine presence or absence of complications, assessing adequacy of pain therapy and monitoring ventilatory status, assuring continuity of care from surgery to recovery room. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Nurse Series 0610 () Education A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U. S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: For Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) positions, applicants must possess a graduate or higher-level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position. Licensure For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position. Experience The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. At the GS-9 and above grade level, many positions may require experience in a specialty area of nursing. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Administer anesthesia and monitor patients through their surgeries; Complete physical assessments of each patient; Discuss the surgery and recovery with the patient prior to the procedure; Prepare and administer the patient-specific amount of anesthesia needed for the procedure; Maintain the patient's anesthesia levels during surgery; Ensure proper anesthesia recovery for patients until patients are transferred to care units; Perform and document the pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation of the patient; Sel
