The Highlights: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic Service Learning, the Program Coordinator is charged with developing community-based service learning courses and relationship building with campus and community partners and colleagues on the ASL team.


What You'll Do:

  • Course Development/Support - Recruit new faculty and develop new community-based courses. Work in a collaborative fashion with the ASL team and current/potential community partners to develop an adequate number of service learning projects and placements in community organizations each academic quarter.  Support faculty teaching courses with projects that integrate community-based service learning pedagogy, serving all academic colleges and departments on all DePaul campuses. Supervise graduate assistants supporting courses.  Advise and support students through their service experiences.
  • Oversee Community Partner Relationship Building--Manage and develop relationships with community partners city wide and in surrounding suburban areas.  Provide development and capacity activities for community partners. This is include conducting on-site visits to partner locations.
  • Public Relations--Work with colleagues and supervisor to produce and share stories about community-based service learning experiences and outcomes at DePaul.
  • Administrative--Streamline processes and logistics.  Update historical documents, records and reports.  Navigate and utilize internal and external databases. Track and assess student engagement and service impact to inform work practices. 
  • Assist with and collaborate on center-wide initiatives, events and functions.  Orient graduate assistants to their positions.
  • Supervision of two graduate assistants.

 

What You'll Need:

  • BA required. MA preferred. At least three years relevant service learning experience
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft office, knowledge of database research, and ability to problem solve.
  • This position requires some evenings and weekends and travel to and from sites for site visits.
