The Highlights: The Data Analyst provides essential systems and user support to the Office of Financial Aid, and collaborates with Enrollment Management, Student Accounts and Information Systems staff to address systems-related issues. This position manages all daily PeopleSoft batch processing, as well as executes cyclical PeopleSoft processes driven by policy related to awarding financial aid to students and to measuring students' progress toward their degrees. This position also serves as the first point of contact for Office of Financial Aid staff members who require assistance with using the PeopleSoft financial aid module.
 

What You'll Do:

  • Schedules daily PeopleSoft batch processes and reports for financial aid; manages the exchange of data between PeopleSoft and external agents (e.g. FPS/COD, ELM, Slate, Salesforce) and the upgrade of tools used for exchanging data (e.g. TDClient, EDConnect, ELMOne) 
  • Manages weekly schedule of financial aid batch packaging processes and assigns award communications sent to students 
  • Communicates with Office of Financial Aid staff members who have questions or encounter problems when using the PeopleSoft financial aid module 
  • Analyzes Office of Financial Aid business processes and collaborates with operations, service, and compliance staff on PeopleSoft process improvements. With supervision from senior team members, documents functional specifications, collaborates with IS design and build teams, identifies integration points with other functional areas, develops and executes test plans, and communicates changes to affected staff. 
  • Performs key cyclical responsibilities throughout the year – 
       *Maintains the Enrollment Systems master calendar, which coordinates startup and shutdown of PeopleSoft batch processes and reports with the financial aid office business cycle; 
       *Manages quarterly Satisfactory Academic Progress processes and works with financial aid SAP team to implement policy, interpret data, and manage exceptions;                                                                    *Creates patch testing protocol and oversees financial aid staff testers during each PeopleSoft patch testing cycle (typically 3-5 cycles per year);
       *Writes and updates reports to monitor student eligibility, identify and remedy processing issues, and recommend process improvements;
       *Serves as secondary staff member for managing and implementing security requests for staff who require access to PeopleSoft financial aid data.
  • Financial Aid is an auditable function and this team is integral part of administering  federal, state and institutional aid programs; aggregate dollars of programs exceed $450 million annually.
       
What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree required.  
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solution product required. 
  • Functional knowledge of financial aid administration is imperative. 
  • Experience as functional/business/system analyst or other relevant experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong analytic, planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills. 
  • Demonstrate effective verbal, written, presentation and listening skills. 
  • Interact and collaborate with work-group colleagues, end users, cross-functional analysts, and IS project managers and developers. 
  • Expertly use Microsoft Excel and Word; easily learn other online technology tools.
  • Position requires standard five day work week. 
  • Additional hours may be required, depending on business cycle and urgency required to remedy acute system problems.
  • Weekend hours will be required (usually Sunday mornings) four to six times per year for patch and/or upgrade testing.
  • Office within a hybrid schedule with approximately 2-3 days in office and 2-3 days remote depending on needs.
