The VA Eastern Oklahoma Healthcare System (EOVAHCS) is actively recruiting a staff Physician in Ophthalmology to help care for our veterans, America's Heroes. We have opportunities for involvement with the education and teaching of residents, medical students, and other providers. EOVAHCS consists of two ambulatory care centers, a tertiary care facility, and eight community-based outpatient clinics. EOVAHCS serves veterans residing in multiple counties throughout the Eastern Oklahoma region. There are 55,000 Veterans in the EOVAHCS service area. Ophthalmology is accountable to the Chief of Eye Care Services. Ophthalmology is aligned under the Department of Surgery and is responsible for managing the most effective ophthalmic care, including cataract surgery and comprehensive Ophthalmology. The candidate should have experience in cataract surgery and comprehensive Ophthalmology. Additional training in a subspecialty will be considered. The candidate should be able to work with our optometric colleagues to provide seamless care to the Veterans we serve.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (you will be required to work evenings or weekends as a 24/7 full-time physician). Work will be performed primarily in the outpatient clinic and operating room. The facility accepts very little trauma, but some trauma care may be needed.
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
- Board eligible or board certified in Ophthalmology, Excellent personal relationship skills and clinical expertise are preferred.
- A sign-on bonus will be offered, and there is potential for an annual performance bonus of up to $15,000.
Starting pay is $270,000.00 to $348,000.00 per year.
Preferred Experience: Board certification by the American Medical Association (AMA) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
Contract buy out program: VHA Contract Buy Out Program: This position may be eligible for the Physician / Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonus contracts, Physician-owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (minimum 4 years).
