Admission & Recovery Area: Outpatient Surgery Center LNA
4x10 hour shifts with rotating days off
The Outpatient Surgery Center (OSC) At Dartmouth Hitchcock is a free standing center located on the DHMC Lebanon campus. The OSC operates six operating room suites and is dedicated to providing care for adult and pediatric patients requiring same-day surgical procedures. The ultimate goal of the OSC is to provide the right care, in the right place and the right time for our patients who seek our surgical services. The OSC is growing and needs an individual who can function clinically as well as be a part of a multi-faceted team.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Prepares pre-op/post-op rooms for patient care, anticipating needs based on pre-established O.R. schedule. This includes, but is not limited to, obtaining supplies and equipment, maintaining anesthesia specialty carts, stock established par levels for all Pre-Op/PACU, and anesthesia supply areas. Performs daily checks for point of care calibrations, ensures availability of O2 tanks and regulators for safe transfer of patients. Responsible for setting up and operating lasers in the OR after training/certifications. Covers for Unit Tech/specimen runner when they are unavailable.
2. Assists in the transfer of patients to stretchers, beds, and/or operating room tables, and to/from various patient care areas.
3. Escorts pediatric patient families to and from the Operating Room for induction of anesthesia.
4. Performs point of care laboratory testing as ordered.
5. Performs routine patient care duties, communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate clinical staff, participates in quality assurance programs/data collection as requested, screens and directs telephone calls to appropriate personnel, communicates detailed information to medical staff and families, and maintains clinical charts and flow sheets.
6. Participates in continuing education, orientation, committees, and quality improvement activities.
7. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduate with 2 years of previous health care setting or emergency medical care experience required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills desired.
- Must be capable of completing a high volume of requests quickly and efficiently in multiple roles.
- Prior knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
Licensed Nursing Assistant in the State of NH required.
Valid Driver's license in good standing.
BLS certification within 1 month of employment required.
Responsibilities
• Assists with routine patient care activities under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, including, but not be limited to, performing ADL's, obtaining clinical data, including vital signs, heights and weights, utilizing universal precautions, collecting specimens or performing point of care testing and recording results in medical record, etc.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment by keeping the hallways clear of excess equipment, emptying linen bags when full, etc.
• Assists visitors and answer telephones.
• Assists new co-workers in learning the work of the department.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
HS/GED strongly preferred but not required
Required Licensure/Certifications
• Licensed Nursing Assistant in the State of NH required. • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required.Don't meet every single requirement?
