Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Lab Research Coordinator to contribute to our pre-clinical and clinical research efforts as part of the Orthopaedic Translational Engineering Lab. In this role, you will support preclinical studies while actively engaging in the development and prototyping of cutting-edge medical devices. Your work will directly impact patient care and scientific advancements.


Responsibilities
    1. Rapid Prototyping:
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design, prototype, and iterate on design of devices in translational research. Utilize techniques such as 3D printing, laser cutting,and additive manufacturing to create functional prototypes.
    • Incorporate multi-material approaches, including the integration of components into polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) channel layers, enhancing stability, sealing, and handling of microfluidic devices.
    1. Bioanalytical Assays and Molecular Studies:
    • Perform bioanalytical assays, including those related to drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics.
    • Assist with molecular studies using cell culturesand molecular biology techniques. These studies may involve gene expression analysis, protein quantification, and nucleic acid manipulation.
    1. Laboratory Management and Documentation:
    • Collect and process specimens/samples for research projects.
    • Maintain biorepositories and document test outcomes for the principal investigator.
    • Prepare and submit experimental data reports with supportive documentation, adhering to established laboratory standards.
    • Follow routine and established laboratory and safety standard operating procedures.
    1. Calibration Tools and Macrofluidic Devices:
    • Collaborate with experts in calibration to ensure accurate measurements and instrument performance.
    • Contribute to the development and testing of macrofluidic devices, which play a crucial role in point-of-care diagnostics.
    1. Additional Responsibilities:

    - Manage laboratory supplies and stock items.

    - Conduct limited library research and reference work for background materials.

    - Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years of laboratory based research experience, or the equivalent in education and experience, preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and standard laboratory software skills required.
  • Previous experience working with cell cultures and molecular biology techniques.
  • Knowledge of laboratory and safety standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of using/reading/keeping graphs, logs, charts and statistics.
  • Ability to effectively work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
