Central Monitor Technician *TRAINING AVAILABLE* (Full-time), Inpatient Teleservices - Rotating

During your 8 week orientation, you will receive all of the necessary training to ensure your success in this role. We are seeking candidates who have an interest and some education in biology, anatomy or physiology, some background in the medical field, and have a high attention to detail with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. This is a role that requires you to remain static for long periods of time while maintaining a strong focus on the work in front of you combined with the necessity to jump in to action quickly when needed. The Center for Connected Care at Dartmouth Health - Central Monitoring Hub is growing and we looking for individuals to join our team. If you are interested in:

This is a full-time, 36-hour per week position working 3 rotating 12-hour shifts over 7 days a week. We offer shift differentials for evening shifts (10%), night shifts (20%) and weekend shifts (15%). We can work with your schedule to find shifts that suit you.

The Central Monitor Technician at Dartmouth-Hitchcock is responsible for surveillance of telemetry cardiac rhythm and patient safety surveillance. As a technician, you will serve as an integral member of the patient care team. The Technician provides real time virtual safety surveillance on patients that have been identified as requiring visual monitoring per policy and procedure and as supervised by a Registered Nurse. On the job training, including rhythm interpretation classes will be part of the onboarding process.


Responsibilities

• Continuously monitors cardiac rhythm and recognizes, identifies, analyzes, and documents arrhythmias, abnormal cardiac rhythms, rhythm changes and promptly reports pertinent findings or changes to the clinical nurse.

• Documents per the Remote Telemetry and Redundant Cardiac Monitoring Policy and related documents.

• Provides real time video monitoring of assigned patients meeting criteria to ensure patient safety and documents per Virtual Patient Safety Surveillance Policy.

• Responds to all alarms and initiates communication promptly. Understands clinical area chain of command for escalation as needed.

• Communicates clearly and compassionately with patients while performing virtual patient safety surveillance.

• Notifies responsible direct care clinicians and supervisor immediately in the event of a failure of monitoring equipment.

• Performs other duties as required or assigned.


Qualifications

• High school graduate required.

• Must demonstrate keyboarding skills and be familiar with computer use.

• Previous hospital experience preferred.

• Completion of advanced dysrhythmia course upon hire and successful passing grade on organizational EKG test upon completion of orientation and annually.

• Effective Communication skills

• Successful completion of competency based orientation program

• Ability to multi-task with multiple competing priorities.
