Summary:

The Mental Health Professional (MHP) is a member of the multidisciplinary team. The MHP is responsible for providing mental health treatment services and assisting those they serve (and often their families) achieve an optimal level of functioning through the provision of therapeutic services. The MHP works with employees in implementing individual and group programming. This can occur either in the home or community settings. In addition, the MHP provides responsible care to individuals in the program and is responsible for the routine operation of the location while on duty. The MHP will serve a role in the clinical aspects of the individual's recovery process. The MHP reports directly to the Program Director.

This position is part of our Youth Mental Health (MH) Services Family Based Services.

Full Time (40 hours/week)- Monday-Friday, flexible plus shared on-call rotation.

Wage Information:

Starting salary: $48,000/year, negotiable based on relevant experience

Job Description:

  • Ensures the individual's health, safety, and welfare by monitoring their physical health and psychiatric health needs.

  • Enhances the quality of the individuals' lives and their integration into the community by supporting established goals, and community integration.

  • Develops and implements program plans designed to enhance the individual's social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and independent living skills.

  • Ability to conceptualize, plan and facilitate individual and group sessions and in some cases family therapies.

  • Performs clinical assessments and develops/implements treatment plans.

  • Completes all daily, weekly, and monthly records i.e., treatment plans, reports, logs, and other documentations.

  • Communicates and collaborates with team members, individual's families, involved agencies, and the community in providing required relevant information.

  • Provides crisis management, intervention which may include verbal/physical altercations and/or suicidal/self-injurious thoughts or actions, and is on-call as assigned.

  • Willing to learn and model the five principles of trauma informed care; safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment.

  • Commitment to promote cultural, racial, language and gender access, diversity, equity and inclusion.

  • Provides case administration to an assigned caseload.

  • Serves as team leader when needed.

Family Based Additional Duties

  • Provides treatment services to families including therapy , skills training, and education designed to enable families to care for their mentally ill or emotionally disturbed children in the home.

  • Provides clinical counseling in community settings, when applicable. 

  • Participates in regular clinical supervision and continued educational activities to further develop professional skills and to meet Family Based Mental Health Services (FBMHS) requirements.

  • Works closely with other FBMHS team members to assure clear communication and team consistency.

  • Provides planning, family support, service linkage and referral for families. 

  • Knowledge of child and adolescent developmental stages. 

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population both orally and in writing, to include written reports and documentation of treatment information.

Qualifications:

 This position requires one of the following combinations of education and experience: 

A graduate degree from an accredited college or university in psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, education, rehabilitation or a graduate degree from an accredited college or university in the field of human services and 2 years experience in a (CASSP) program;

OR a licensed registered nurse (RN) and 5 years of experience including 2 years of experience in a CASSP program plus a certification from the Department of Human Service's Office of Mental Health as a Mental Health Family Based Worker; OR a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, rehabilitation, education, pre-med, theology, anthropology or a degree from an accredited college or university in the field of human services plus a certification from the Department of Human Services as a Mental Health Family Based Worker.
